Sadly I was watching the race when he died. Sad to see him go in such a bad way.

What is worse is that he was only on his second lap when the bike slipped out.

You'll be missed.

This was horrific. Motorsport deaths are always pretty shocking, and this wasn't just testemant to that, but it just made the worst crash I've ever seen. If I was 46, I probably would have stopped and gone back to try see what's up with Marco.

My thoughts are with his family.

Also RIP to the 2 people that die each second.

I can see the point in this, but this accident was pretty vicious. I think you need to give respect were it is due, comrade.

I'd be prepared for some hate incomming.

RIP whatever.

Wow was not expecting such a rude comment from you. But then you also laughed at Steve Jobs's death.

Yes people die every second or so, but how many of those people do you hear of? Yeah probably none. A lot of deaths are from starvation in 3rd world countries because of their governments, this however was a freak accident.

I'm sure you wouldn't act in such a way when one of your family members died.

Learn some respect.

I agree that my comment was a little too rude.

However, I am fed up with RIP-topics popping up everywhere. Suddenly I'm expected to give respect to someone whose name I've never even heard before.

And yes, this accident looks quite horrific, but there are many, many more terrible ways to die. Also, it was Simoncelli's own decicion to risk his life, but many people in 3rd world countries Cyrem mentioned don't have any choice.

You don't have to pay respects just because you've seen this topic, just don't post. I don't know him really well, but he was still a guy just few years older than me that had a very good racing future ahead of him. I don't need to know someone well to feel sorry for their loss, I just need to hear about it. But being as I saw this crash as it happened was quit sad. No-one has a choice of whether they die or not unless you are deliberately ending your life. Yes his job has a risk factor, but so does mine and so does everyone else. I could die driving to work tomorrow or get stabbed while working, I won't know till it happens.

He also had an afro. RESPECT +1

Video's dead. Dorna Sports took it down.

Yes they keep taking all the videos down as if they don't want people to see the crash.

Live Leak are fantastic for their police videos they upload.

Anyways, I thought they were removing them because they wanted to be the ones to sell it to news broadcasters, but people uploading it to Youtube means that the people trying to get these videos can quickly download them with the right programs for free...

He died? It looked like he got up and limped away from the crash.

He must have broken his neck.

At least he died doing what he loved. Still, it makes me think of what could have happened to my dad if he kept racing DTM.

No, sir, that was another driver who survied. Look specifically at the moment the two bikes run into the bike on the ground; you'll see the body roll across the ground.

Still, it makes me think of what could have happened to my dad if he kept racing DTM.

He raced? How good was he, and why did he stop?

He was actually given a Formula-1 invite (I think he was actually racing one of the slower formula classes rather than DTM). However, he stopped racing because his teammate was killed in an accident that he barely avoided himself, as well as the fact that his father didn't like the fact that (at the time) the heir to The McCartin Group Mechanical Contractors was risking life and limb out on the track.
