first off, i apologize if this is in the wrong section. i dont know how strict the forum rules are here.

i first played rock raiders when i was in elementary school, im now a senior in high school. rock raiders was my favorite computer game as a kid, and for the last 4 years i have been trying to get it to work on my computer. well, ive been using this site for about a week or two now, and it has worked wonders for me. i have managed to get it working on my windows 7, and have begun modding the game. this is the first game i have ever successfully modded (the other being minecraft....that didnt end well).

what i am currently looking into, is how to remove the dependencies for buildings and vehicles in the cfg file. i have tried everything i can think of. i tried deleting what specific dependency i wanted removed, i tried removing the whole line of a dependency, i tried changing the upgrade level required for the buildings, and i even tried putting a ";" at the start of the line, in high hopes that it would 'hide' the dependency from the game. ive looked and look on here, and cant find anyone who has had the same problem, ive only found people saying that it is possible. any help is much appreciated. thank you :}

Woah, woah, woah, slow down, tiger.

Firstly, welcome to RRU!

Now, secondly, what do you mean when you say "remove"? What dependency to you want to get rid of, and why?

if anything, im a dog. my friends call me shaggy (hence my account haha)

and by remove, i mean this...for example, in the cfg file, it goes something like "alwayscheck: hoverscout: pilot:0, toolstore:1, teleport pad:1, powerstation:1, barracks:0"

what i want to do, is make it to where i dont need the supply station (called 'barracks' in the cfg file).

Alright, 3 things.

  1. Are you compiling your WAD files after you make the changes to your .cfg, or are you using the Data Folder method?
  2. Are you trying to remove the dependencies for all in-game objects, or just a specific item?
  3. Have you added any other mods to the game?

not sure the difference in the methods. i followed one about extracting a file that was like legollr00 and legollr01, and then putting their files and folders into the data folder (im assuming this is the data method you spoke of).

just specific items

and yes (i have back ups of everything). my game plays fine. ive added in the tunnel transport helicopter and messed around the the ore/crystal costs to pretty much get free vehicles. i have debug keys enabled (couldnt get editor mode to work, even though it was on TRUE)

If you add the Tunnel Transport, you have to make sure you match dependency changes in the main Dependencies { list and in the TT's dependency list. It was coded really weirdly so if you add a dependency in one list, you have to at least reference it in the other list. The same goes for removing them. However, I don't know if the game would like not having dependencies there. You might want to try reducing the dependencies to just require Pilot:0, since you would almost always have a Rock Raider somewhere in the level unless you're using multiple classes of raiders.

just tried what you said, i took the support station of the dependency list for the hoverboard (on both dependency lists) and started up the game to test it...the support station still showed up as a requirenment.

also, i do have the multiple classes on, but im not sure if i finished it right, because they're not showing up in the game...is there something in particular i have to do activate them?

thanks

Yes, that's the Data Folder Method. Make sure you backup the files somewhere else then delete the wad files, otherwise your game will conflict.

Right, working with the tunnel transporter mod is a little more difficult, because there are two sections to deal with. I'll get back to you on this (if nobody does before me) when I get my LegoRR copy back.

You need to spawn them through the .ol file, or Object List. You can use the search bar to find out more.

I, what? There's only one dependency list. The TT is just another entry in it.

That's because it was cut from the EXE too, just like WallTypeSoil. There's no way to get it back without editing the EXE. And good luck doing that and ever producing something that doesn't destroy the entire program.

to the guy/girl above me, lol, im still trying to just get basics, i think thats a little out of my league right now, but thanks anyway

as for the tunnel trasnporter, the code that i copy and pasted...it worked, but it does have a 'copy' of ALL the dependencies for everything else...i dunno why, i just know what whatever its there for, it works

His gender is listed as male. You had a way of knowing. Anyways, just take things slowly for now. If you haven't looked already, you can find a good deal of information in the Modding Tutorials section so you can see some of what we've already done. Unfortunately, we haven't documented everything as well as we might want, so feel free to ask questions.

im guessing i would have had to click is profile to see his gender listing, i didnt click on his profile :P

thanks. i think the only real mod ive done is the tunnel transport, everything else is really only messing with stuff in the cfg file (im making sure i dont screw anything up), which is still pretty fun...but for the link to the "config documentation" on this site, i wish it had more description on what everything does D:
