Baz
Seems like only yesterday it launched. I guess the servers cost them too much to make it 100% free-to-play. Whatever, I don't pay attention to pay-by-the-month games anyway...

Whatever, I don't pay attention to pay-by-the-month games anyway... I'm the opposite. I don't pay attention to the free-to-play games because they generally do that because they are not getting enough players. Pay-per-month games have better support and updates are normally more frequent then f2p. Additionally, when f2p is started... they usually introduce the pay-to-win system where if you do spend money you get boosts for XP etc... Which is a big turn off for me. I guess today is the last day. Cya LU, too bad your parents murdered you. R.I.P
STUDZ
...So, has anyone figured out how to make a private server? Based on all the nothing I've heard about the subject, I'm guessing that it's almost impossible.
le717
...So, has anyone figured out how to make a private server? Based on all the nothing I've heard about the subject, I'm guessing that it's almost impossible. Well, a hacker named Kelvin started remaking LU, but was shut down. After that stopped, a lot of hope about a private server fell through the cracks. Odd thing about Kelvin. It is known widely that he has hacked the game multiple times. He got video of Pre-Alpha FV, video of the NT launchpad BEFORE release, video of the current/final patcher before release, spread details about the F2P BEFORE announcement, and just fixed a unfinished item released in one of the giveaways. LEGO knows he's a hacker, but he is still in-game. From what I've picked up, he hacked into the servers to fox the broken item for everyone on. And their are multiple videos on YT showing the place flying.
Lair
There are over 5k people on the server, the admins are spamming castles and beta minifigs. Even Friendly Felix is there.
STUDZ
So... Is that a yes?
le717
So... Is that a yes? That is a no. Some CM said that a private server couldn't be made (but that could have been said to discourage more thought), and the text from Lair above means that there were 5K on the official servers at one time, not counting all the spawns. It will be lucky if the servers don't crash before midnight! As for me, I just got off. It's 10:00 PM EST, and these were my last words (I typed them in the help box and sent the message, even though I'll get a Consult the FAQ" email. I'm a F2P, and can't talk). "n00b I entered Beta and F2P, and n00b I leave forever. Goodbye LEGO Universe! I have enjoyed you, and you will be greatly missed by this TFOL. Goodbye." And I left. STUDZ
I watched jamesster's video for the end of LU, and I got shivers down my spine, the kind only moments like these are capable of. LEGO Universe is OFFICIALLY dead. The Maelstrom rules, and Mythrans drool. OH WAIT, I meant the big company guys who simply don't give a [Please Talk Properly] if the project lived or died, as long as they got their $$$. And LU wasn't sufficing. Such a shame that this has to be part of modern life now... You either have to have gobs o' money or players/viewers, or the project dies with the fans pining for more (It happened to many video games and TV shows, like Beyond Good and Evil, and Firefly). Here's to LEGO Universe. May it shine in the fanboy's mind as LEGO's way to try and please everyone, target audience and AFOL and everyone in between. And to be honest, they did a damn fine job. Considering nowadays, that is. Kudos.
Cyrem
Anyone watch the video on the LU website? It's quite a sad video. 4 years in development and it only lasted about 2 years. I hope LEGO has learnt, never make your games free-to-play. The extra people joining are only there to leech what they can get out of a free game or they were all in the countries you did not allow to subscribe. The money was in your face, yet you wanted to pick and choose who could buy it. There were many Austalians wanting to subscribe to the game, but you didn't allow subscribing for us... or many other contries for that matter. Haha, one of the guys had a Mario sticker on his laptop. But yeah, sadish ending.
Cyrem
Has anyone else notice the LU games are still being sold around the internet and still in stores?? How can they even sell it, it'd come under false advertising would it not?
Lair
Has anyone else notice the LU games are still being sold around the internet and still in stores?? How can they even sell it, it'd come under false advertising would it not? a. They are so disconnected that they somehow have not learned that it is closed. b. They think the discs will magically work somehow and do not comprehend the relationship. c. They don't care as long as they make money.
Cyrem
c. They don't care as long as they make money. But when the customers bring it back saying the game isn't even online anymore they should get the hint that all their stock is worthless now. McJobless
I think you're missing the point. Store has to sell stock, even if it's discontinued. It's just the way the world works. Any progress on those guys trying to make their own server?
Lair
Any progress on those guys trying to make their own server? Well, as far as I know, it's 100% doable and has been done, but they are cautious about doing it because LEGO would throw a fit like the last time some kid did it. LEGO will go after people starting up there own LU servers. I wouldn't do it even if I knew.

The PirateBay became popular because of a court case in the UK shutting down all access to it from the UK. This actually boosted the amount of visitors. Uploaded or not, if LEGO found people running them (which btw, if the game secretly connects to other LEGO servers, it would completely give you away) you'd be promptly shutdown.
