le717
I am looking at buying a new racing game to play, something that is not made of Legos. I have been a fan of NFS for a long time (I used to own NFS Hot Pursuit III, and NFS Porsche Unleashed), and I want to buy another one, but with the reviews I have been reading, NFS has took a turn for the worse for Windows. I know of GT, but I don't own a PlayStation of any kind. (Don't want one either.) And my friend's youth group bought a Xbox 360, and they have Forza 3, but I don't own a 360 (don't want one as well). So that rules out those games. Like I said, I like NFS, but the one I am looking at (Shift 2 Unleashed) sounds bad. I read a review from what seemed to be a gamer, and he said that the devs took the 360 code, ported it, slapped something on it, and called it a game. He said the handling was bad, among other things. Do you guys know of any racing game that is good? Or should I get Shift 2? Requirements: E-E10+ No Police Chase Maybe SIM EDIT: Oh, and it has to be decent. No bad language or stuff like that. The only reason I have NFSU2 is because Dad bought it years ago, and he had no idea what some of the characters in it looked like. McJobless
I am looking at buying a new racing game to play, something that is not made of Legos. Damn, that rules out my free overhaul...which is still being made... I have been a fan of NFS for a long time (I used to own NFS Hot Pursuit III, and NFS Porsche Unleashed), and I want to buy another one, but with the reviews I have been reading, NFS has took a turn for the worse for Windows. It isn't specifically Windows, but the whole series committed suicide after Carbon (which was more like an expansion pack for Most Wanted). Even the newest Hot Pursuit game feels undercooked at best. I know of GT, but I don't own a PlayStation of any kind. (Don't want one either.) And my friend's youth group bought a Xbox 360, and they have Forza 3, but I don't own a 360 (don't want one as well). So that rules out those games. They are heavy on realism, and seeing as you're a NFS fan, I wouldn't exactly be thinking you're a fan of those games cling to damage and handling... Like I said, I like NFS, but the one I am looking at (Shift 2 Unleashed) sounds bad. I read a review from what seemed to be a gamer, and he said that the devs took the 360 code, ported it, slapped something on it, and called it a game. He said the handling was bad, among other things. Once again, it's the way the new games are in general, not what they did for specific ports. ProStreet was the worst of the worst, and Shift is very close (Undercover almost killed story-racers for me). Do you guys know of any racing game that is good? Or should I get Shift 2? Requirements: E-E10+ No Police Chase Maybe SIM Your a hard man to please if you can't take your Police Pursuits... Anyways, two good ones (that I liked) with those requirements include the "Race Driver" series (it should be promoting the V8 Supercars) or Juiced. Cyrem
- Need For Speed Underground 1/2. Nuff said. I've played it like 20 times over... - Juiced 2 is absolute garbage. Juiced 1 however wasn't bad. - Dirt 2/3 is awesome on PS3 (no idea what it is like on PC). - 18 Wheels of Steel OLOLOLOLOL. - Test Drive Unlimited 2 (I haven't played it, I played the first one on PS2 and it wasn't that bad) - Burnout Paradise ( It's smashing time )
TheDoctor
I would suggest Driver: San Francisco mainly because it looks fun. I haven't played it though. It's different from your normal `drive 'round the track fast enough to win` game, which is a good thing.
le717
that rules out my free overhaul...which is still being made.. Even though I want a non-LEGO game right now, I would still be happy to play your overhaul! What game are you modding? Need For Speed Underground 1/2. Nuff said. I've played it like 20 times over... I own NFSU2. I have a high level (at least for me. Rank 2 upgrades all unlocked), but I got tried of it. Plus, I hate the drag racing part. I will look into those games when I get time, and if you think of another game, let me know! EDIT: I tried the Shift 1 Demo before, and I loved it. The graphics was amazing, and the racing was great, IMO. That's why I was looking t Shift 2 to begin with. Why not buy Shift 1 if you like it then? Win7. I tried the demo on XP, and when I put it on Win7, it kept crashing. I hear that happens to most everyone, and I want a game that will run on Win7, not just XP (even though the readme says that it runs on XP, Vista and 7). Well, I would like to see it, but... I don't own RR. The oldest LEGO game I own is Loco, and I got that after I joined here. I came here to mess with my copy of LR1. I recommend Big Rigs: Over the Road Racing. I just looked that game up. LOL! Don't know if Dad would let me get such a buggy game thought. "Why do you want this? I mean, its full of bugs!" Lair
Honestly, besides LEGO Racers I can't think of any truley good racing games for PC. Several decent ones, but none really good like that. Fluffy Cupcake
I can't think of any other PC non-LEGO racing game right now besides Micro Machines (any version, though the only one I ever played/own was/is V4)
le717
You seem to have forgotten LEGO Racers 2 I own LR2 (I told you that, didn't I?), but I want to play a non-LEGO game right now. Quick question: Does anyone know where I can buy Big Rigs: Over The Road Racing? Sure, that pic from Amazon is a place, but I was thinking more like from a store, as in a building. I could do Amazon, but read my last post about Dad's (most likely) reaction to my wanted to buy that game.

If you want to get a physical copy, best to check Amazon or EBay (although I think copies might be rare seeing as a lot of people wanted to buy it to make fun of it...). You seem to have forgotten LEGO Racers 2. You seem to have not read all my post. I've bolded the part you should re-read for an explimation of why I didn't mention that one. If I find who made that physics engine I'll ram it up their flowers.

If you want to get a physical copy, best to check Amazon or EBay (although I think copies might be rare seeing as a lot of people wanted to buy it to make fun of it...). That's what I was thinking too... until today. I was able to run by Gamestop, and from the very short time that I was able to talk to someone, I learned a few things about this Big Rig game. First, it seems that the company that owns it (who ever that my be these days) tried to re-release the game a while back. I was not able to find out if they tried to fix the game (or should I say, complete it), but I did confirm that this re-release is the Big Rig I am looking for. Second, the game was recalled just two weeks ago. Gamestop doesn't know why, they are not told why. So, if I wanted to get the Big Rig game, I would have posted this topic three weeks or more ago. Second, did anyone know that the game was released? I didn't.
