Best Browser

Sick of not being able to see awards and having irritated Cyrem enough with both this and some other glitches I got, I downloaded Chrome. It's beautiful compared to Internet Exploder. But there are a few things here and there I don't like (like how everything is compressed into one menu and I can't find anything). In your opinions, what is the best browser?

Oh dear wad not this bollocks again. I WILL NOT BITE.

Edit: I would like to point out that it took up to IE10 for Microsoft to finally think of adding a spellchecker into IE.

Edit 2: I would also like to point out that "In 2005, Adobe Systems opted to integrate Opera's layout engine, Presto, into its Adobe Creative Suite applications. Opera technology is now found in Adobe GoLive, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Dreamweaver, and other components of the Adobe Creative Suite."

Bite what? I'm asking for each member's opinion on the best browser, of which you gave none.

You ask this kind of question and you will get a clusterblargh of USE ONE OF THESE TWO MAINSTREAM BROWSERS Firefox and Chrome (I actually typed Chromium before, which is the ACTUAL browser that Google steals, brands, and adds data tracking to) and you'll get Opera from me. You're just an idiot if you consider Safari and anything else isn't up to par.

Best browser? Well then. . .

Firefox. It just works.

To get the old style FF look. Check, View > Toolbars > Menubar. Then uncheck View > Toolbars > Tabs on Top.

This. After those steps and about:config > browser.urlbar.trimURLs = false

Although the Mac version + layered transparent window mode Flash objects results in a very confused Flash player. I blame Apple. :P

But it's quite simply the best supported browser I've seen, and I have used virtually all of them and have all 5 major versions plus a few non-major ones on my computer now.

Adobe GoLive? What's that. :P just kidding, I know what it was and that Dreamweaver was so indisputably better that once they bought Macromedia, they canned it.

Strange though, Adobe AIR uses WebKit for it's HTML engine.

You are turning this into a bigger issue than it needs to be. He is just asking what everyone thinks is the best browser. If you think it's Opera, so be it. He is simply just going to make a decision based on "x users said this was best". So what if Safari or other unknown browsers don't get mentioned, he doesn't want a giant list of every good browser.

The world won't end because Google Chrome got another user.

Dad uses Chrome, but on every computer that is not used much, I put Firefox on it. Google knows too much... Plus, FF is open-source, which I like.

My brother likes Opera. Did you know that you can edit HTML on the fly in Opera? It is only visible to you, of course. He likes that, but why would he use it when he (and I) know no coding whatsoever, is beyond me. Opera also has a built-in spell checker. It just doesn't like Blogger, for some reason.

Firefox is best browser. Nuff said.

But really, I'm not sure what makes Firefox better then Chrome and vise-versa, but I just use Firefox (and I have tried Chrome before).

Also, you don't need to go back to the old look, the new one is just fine.

I don't like the menu bar compressed into one thing. in Chrome. Firefox is purrfect

Where on earth did I ever say this? I didn't even know about Safari. All I asked was for people's opinions on the best browser, not for sudden unexplained rage.

FireBug does that and so much more.

Chrome's claim to fame is it's slightly (almost unnoticeable) faster (although not at actual downloading of files from the internet which in determined by connection speed).

Chrome is made by Google. Google tracks everything they can. Firefox used Gecko rendering engine, Chrome uses WebKit (made by Apple for Safari) for its rendering engine. Gecko is better IMO.

Chrome has certain plugins, like Flash Player, built in. The only way to update is to update the entire browser, assuming the browser has been updated in accordance with Flash Player. If not, you might have to wait to get the latest features and security improvements.

On a side note, Chrome refuses to change the cursor state for Flash buttons in transparent window mode Flash objects.

I tried Chrome for awhile. Never again. I found it to be annoyingly and unnecessarily difficult. It was also quite slow compared to Firefox. It also refused to load some websites. I would trust Firefox with my life.

Also, my mother uses Chrome and complains about it all the time. -.-

You forgot about Dragonfly, Opera's (built in) version of FireBug.

This entire topic: Lair, I told you so.

I tried Firefox like everyone suggested. It works good... except that it keeps crashing. Neither Internet Explorer nor Google Chrome crashed like it does. Does this happen with anyone else?

I use Firefox at home and Chrome at work, each has its own points. But everyone knows that IE is the fastest and most secure web browser ever built.

Firefox gets the custom award.

Chrome gets the web dev award.

This better have been sarcasm because if it wasn't then you need to see a doctor right away.

Only on occasion, but no more than any other browser I've tried.

Nobody at my web developing job uses anything but Firefox and Firebug (except for cross-browser testing).

Huh, nope. Your computer must not like Firefox.

It's still crashing. IE was slow but it never crashed. I guess I'll try other suggestions if this doesn't work soon.

Why am I reading this topic as "Best Bowser"?
