Rr In A Vm

This is why I want so badly to duel-boot Ubuntu 11.10 on an older computer that we have in our house. LR1 says in the readme that it will NOT run on Linux (or was that Loco?). But, that was back in the late 90's. It is 2011, almost 2012, and they just might be playable on Linux.

All I have to do is get permission to download the ISO overnight, burn it to a cd, partition the hard drive, and install it. Then, I might have to hook the desktop to the router if it does not find the Wi-fi adapter, which means moving the computer, and let it download the software and all that it needs. Then I have to install a screen capture program, and the game, and record me playing the game (or not) on Ubuntu. And I will still have to find time for school, updating my blog, maybe playing LU before it closes, among other things. I think Dad will let me do that. :P

I can't help but notice that you are running RR in a Windows VM, at least that's how it looks to me. If you want to run games on linux without actually loading a VM of Win7, you should try PlayOnLinux http://www.playonlinux.com/en. It's point is to run Windows games on Linux via Wine. I have not used it (see above paragraph), but it just might work for RR and a lot of older games.

Of course it won't run on Linux, it's made for windows.

...And then wine came along. Unfortunately, RR doesn't run in that on modern computers.

Of course I'm running it in a windows VM. Running it in a linux VM would accomplish nothing.

@ POL: I've known about POL for a long time. RR does NOT work in Wine. That's just how it is.

The only solution is to run it in a VM. Previously, that didn't work either due to no d3d support.

WILL NEVER WORK. Really. We've tried. A lot. Wine just won't work.

And that was with Hardy and the Wine version at that time. Now with new Wine and such it's just not going to happen. Same with POL. In a VM is different. If you need help in your conquest I can help.

Edit: ASDF Addict the ninja got me. Yeah.

I stand corrected, unless the computer is old; I got similar results on a 11 year old computer of my friend which I had installed a legacy version of debian on.
