Lair
Hey, I have this damaging bug/glitch that causes Windows Media Player to not display the video properly. It does this. As you can see there is no image. Ragefaces make me angry. Is there any way to stop this? The only way to cure it is to log off, but i want a simpler, faster way to fix it. Any help would be nice. Then log off and log back in again. Close and re-open. It does this sometimes, and unless it happens to you a lot it's just a bug. Also, I dearly hope that is not Windows Vista :|

Phoenyx
Ctrl+Alt+Del. Open the task manager, go to the processes tab, select wmplayer.exe and click "end process". When it asks you to confirm click "end process" in the dialog box. To prevent it from happening again, download and install VLC media player and Foobar2000, and stop using Windows Media Player. Antillies
I'm wondering two things: 1) what is the type of video file you are trying to play? The glitch may have something to do with a corrupted video codec. And 2) how often does this happen? Does it happen once in a while or all the time? Does it happen after you've played the video through once?

Phoenyx
Install another codec? K-Lite codec pack is a nice one WMV is natively supported by Windows Media Player. A codec wouldn't help. Does it happen with specific files or just randomly? If the former, can you play those files in another media player like VLC?

Lair
Option 1: Re-install WMP, or install a new player. Your copy is messed up. Option 2: Install Windows 7. Just GET AWAY FROM VISTA.

Phoenyx
it happens with avi as well Mp3 file are fine maybe i should try vlc oh wait that wont work because vista dose not support I've used VLC on Windows Vista before. Why wouldn't Vista support it? (I couldn't resist the objection part... I'll remove it if anyone has a problem with it) I will go with option 1 staying away from option 2 will do that after i beat my mini haul I would highly recommend upgrading to Windows 7. Vista is already obsolete, and since they run slightly different versions of the same kernel you won't lose your data if you buy an upgrade package. Masterchief
It could be your graphics card that causes the wmv codec to hang up. Have you tried installing the newest driver for your graphics card?
Fluffy Cupcake
I've been using WMP on Vista for years, and I've never had any probs like this.
TheDoctor
VLC works on everything. I have no idea what fun is talking about. He probably managed to break his computer somehow. Anyways, I had a problem with one of Cirevam's renderings in that vlc didnt like it but WMP was fine with it. We have no idea why, but if one doesn't work, try the other. If both of them don't like it, it's probably an issue with the file.
