Win7 has already been produced and distributed to consumers.

Win7 is in my view even better than XP. As sadie said, it's already out... it's been out since 2010 I think.

You've acknowledged that it isn't that great of an OS, yet you query why it's bad ?

This isn't adding up...

I looked at the title of this page and LOL'd. Hard. I mean, like a resounding "LAWL!!!!" That reverberated across my house. No joke. People came in to see if I was alright.

Windows Vista was and is TERRIBLE. It's actually in a book I read on trivial information. It was considered to be one of the worst products EVER (Listed with the likes of New Coke and Gerber Singles). Buggy, virus-ridden, and just plain CRAP. I wish I didn't have it in my house.

Hold my bladder for a second...WTF.

I refuse to accept that Windows 7 is better. XP has much more theme hacks, much more customisable, can play a large majority more old games without problems, and Aero is the worst invention Microsoft has ever concieved.

Vista, 7, and the soon-to-be-released 8, can all go join the "OSes which didn't quite cut it". Windows XP will always be my choice for gaming, Linux for doing unspeakable things to other peoples hotmail/facebook accounts, and Macs for teaching old people how computers work, so they can go and get a real computer.

O.T.

Mac is like the training bra of computers. Just saying.

I think you missed the part where I said "in my view". Sure I miss the compatibily with some games, but you can't get everything. Customising? never cared for it... I still have Win7's default background. Only customising I do is hardware. Aero on Vista was bad, on W7 I have no problem with it.

I've been using Vista for years, never had a problem getting custom themes and whatnot for it. And I haven't seen anything buggy with it either. The only prob is what Extreme said, not being able to play some older games.

Edit: Oh and just to say, I have tried W7.

You have no idea how much I LOL'd at that, Extreme. It beat my reaction to "Do you like Windows Vista?" By far. The ambulance was almost called this time.

I've used both 64bit Win7 and 32bit Vista.

32bit Vista is essentially XP with a fancy pants coat of paint, it does mostly what I want it to and nothing more. I've never had a problem with the OS itself ever.

Now I've heard that 64bit Vista is the piece of crap one and is full of bugs and has all the problems and all that bad stuff everyone says Vista has.

So if you want Vista, go 32bit. Though I really wish I had a 64bit OS on my desktop since that would be much more beneficial for what I do and a 64bit OS allows for the use of over the bulls*** limit of 6GB of RAM. I have 192 GB of RAM and most of it lies unused and was essentially a waste of my hard earned money. Screw you RAM limit, why are you even there? No really, WHY is there a RAM limit? Would the computer explode if a 32bit OS tried to use more than 6GB?

Vista compared to Win7, however, Win7 beats the living crap out of it and I hope to upgrade my desktop to it one of these days.

Win7 looks better, runs faster and most of all IT CAN USE MORE THAT SIX F***ING GB OF GOD***M RAM!

It has to do with how memory addresses are stored. I could be completely wrong, but 32-bit OSes can only have 32 bits (or four bytes) to define each memory address, and 64-bit OSes can have twice as many. This means that 64-bit allows you to have more RAM because there can be more unique memory addresses. So yes, a 32-bit computer would explode if it tried to use more than 6 GB because if you tried to access any memory locations outside of whatever the 32-bit's maximum is, then it will either loop around to the 0th location (frosting up whatever memory is already there) or something else bad.

Anyways, I had hardly any problems with 64-bit Vista and I don't know why everyone is complaining unless they have problems where some drivers stop working after you bring your computer out of sleep mode (which I have with 7 but that's Asus' fault). To me 7 is Vista with a new coat of paint and some clear coat but is otherwise the same. Currently I am having problems trying to figure out a problem with where 7 puts its OpenGL libraries since they're completely different now and aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaagh and of course there's old program incompatibility which I also had with Vista. If I could I'd stick with XP since that has the most compatibility but programs keep getting more and more bloated so it wouldn't be able to handle new programs forever.

I've been using Vista since 2007, and for a long time I completely disagreed with all the hate it was getting since I never had any problems with it. But after a while it just got slow and buggy. Even when I've wiped the HDD (both deliberately and accidentally) and booted up a clean install it's still been terrible.

So for the last few years I've kind of just kept installing other OS's to dual/triple-boot with it. XP, Ubuntu, the Windows 7 RC and beta, basically anything because everything was faster than Vista.

Then when the Windows 8 dev preview was released in September I downloaded that and installed it and have been using it ever since. I really don't like the Metro UI so I only use it for the desktop mode, which is just Windows 7. But it's still much faster than Vista :P My copy expires in just over a month though so I might just install XP again then and wait for the Win 8 betas.

I had it on an older computer. I didn't have too many problems with it, but it was just a bit buggy and hogged resources.

For what it was I'd say Microsoft made a good effort in re-engineering the NT kernel, but things just didn't work out. Actually, that's kinda what happened with WebOS, that other Linux based mobile operating system, as well as the SEGA Dreamcast and Nintendo Gamecube.

I hate how it looks, it's slow ...it's just bad.

I've had it for a few years and it's worked just fine.

Win7 also looks very similar to it, you hate that too?
