Portforwarding Problem

Some time ago I attempted to connect to a friend's Terraria server and vice versa, but neither of us could connect to either of our servers and so we concluded the issue to either be that my router is set with the wrong ip, and/or port and consequently not connecting. I've only gotten as far as the main page of my router's interface though, and it won't allow for me to access any of the other tabs.

I'm also not using a wireless connection if that's any help

Also, please excuse the lack of information given, as I'm not entirely sure what the issue is precisely, and understand just shy of nothing about this.

Any help would be appreciated, thank you.

What router are you using, first of all?

Second, is it asking for a password for access?

1) Define router.

2) It requested a password and username, which I provided and effectively gained access. However, for some unknown reason when I attempt to click on any other tabs it redirects me to the main page.

Your router would be the device that assigns IP addresses and routes connections on your local network. It's oftentimes referred to as a network bridge or gateway.

Netgear, Model FS108, assuming that's what you refer to.

Yeah.

A Netgear, you say? That could be a problem... I've never had any luck with Netgear routers. First off, try manually resetting the router. That usually helps with any firmware issues that come up as you will be reverting to the factory settings.

And how would that generally be done?

I'd assume you would do as I do, where you pull the power cord out and wait 60 seconds (1 minute) before placing the power cord back in.

Hmm, alright.

Thank you, Ben.

Doing that apparently yielded no effect. What else could I possibly try doing alternatively?

There may be a reset button you can press with something like a paper clip.

Asdf. Go to http://192.168.1.1 and tell me if you see anything.

That is the page to which I was referring earlier when I said it would redirect me to the main page immediately after clicking another of the tabs as opposed to directing me to the desired page.

Eh, try opening the page tabs in a new browser tab. If it's still sending you back to the main page, try using a different browser.

Made attempts in GC, FF, and IE, but to no avail.

If it's any help, the following is what I see:

Oh WAD... It's a Verizon repackaged Netgear unit... Honestly, if you want my opinion, contact Verizon and request they send you a non-gateway modem and install a separate router of your own choosing. 2-in-1 gateways are never good for anything beyond basic internet use and honestly, I wouldn't even use them for that.

If you stick with the Netgear 2-in-1 you'll need to schedule an appointment with a technician, and I've never had a good experience working with technicians with the exception of Charter (ironically Charter is supposed to have the worst customer service...) and occasionally AT&T. Verizon is really bad with locking out their clients from their equipment's settings.

Hmm, alright.

Thank you for your continued help, 40K. Thanking you via text kinda defeats the purpose of the Thank/Like button, but I prefer to express my appreciation through text instead.
