SilentShadow
I found this method to be the most efficient at mining water levels. Positives: Mines as effeciently as in other areas. Requires little checking on. Negitives: Requires a bit to get going. You lose the energy crystals in the water crafts. There are two ways to execute this method: Low cost, low efficiency. High cost, High-er efficiency. The cost refers to ore and energy crystals. Plan 1: Upgrade your base so that you can teleport down a tunnel scout. Get a Rock Raider to fly it, but make sure he has a drill, and a shovel. A hammer wouldn't be a bad idea either. Teleport all of the other Rock Raiders and tool stores out, and turn off your teleport pad/s. Have him fly to whatever Island/Area you want to mine. Have him get off and make him drill a few walls down. Make him build a power path that you can then place a tool store next to. Once you get the tool store teleport as many Rock Raiders down as you want and strip the place. Once everything is gone, teleport all the Rock Raiders but one back to the LMS Explorer. Move to a new area and start again. *note: You can use this on lava levels too.* Plan 2: -This plan takes up many more energy crystals than Plan 1 and only works on water, but it's faster. Upgrade your base until you can teleport down a Cargo Carrier and a Small Transport Truck or two. Man all the trucks and the cargo carrier. Then teleport all of your tool stores and all remaining Rock Raiders but one out. Also turn off your power for the Teleport Pad/s. Go to whatever area you want to mine and ferry the trucks there. Tell the drivers to get out and drill some walls. Make a power path so you can build a tool store. Tell the Rock Raiders to get back in their trucks. Teleport down some rock raiders and start mining. Once you're done, teleport the tool store and all of your rock raiders not in a vehicle back to the LMS Explorer. Reload the trucks and go to the next area. Repeat as much as you like. *note: because this method depends on all of the extra buildings and crystals, I recommend scouting ahead to see if this method will work.*
Cirevam
Meh, almost all of the water levels have land routes to all of the materials, but for user-made missions this would be helpful. Also, Tunnel Transport + Small Transport Truck = win. I could also do a test in the summer to see if it's possible for a vehicle to carry more than one vehicle at once. Then it will be necessary to create a Freighter so you can transport a small fleet across the water while trying to defend it from Water Monsters who attack swiftly and can only be dispatched by the Assault Transport unless you're close to shore. The AT also carries a vehicle and can do some drilling of its own, though the walls have to be close to the shore and it takes a while unless we increase the drilling power of the lasers. TheDoctor
Im going to make that. I will make such a level. Barely enough room for a support station on the first island. ../../../public/style_emoticons/default/e342175.png Lol, when final Map Creator comes out though. Tauka Usanake
They don't make enough island maps in anything I say. I wouldn't mind having to travel around to different lands and having to bring back the crystals and ore. You'll have to have a ship or helicopter that is in the game to carry it across the water/lava.
Cirevam
*points to Time Raiders WIP overhaul* Oh hey, yeah. Three different types of island mining methods. 1) Ferrying. Islands that are too small for a proper base will need to ferry materials or set up Tool Stores on each island. 2) No shore. Requires either a laser that can reach or an aquatic vehicle with a drill. The latter doesn't exist, so you better hope you can get a laser over there. 3) Small island + lava. Imagine an "island" that's only one square large but has a cache of minerals on it. Normally you could ferry, but only the flying vehicles can access it, and the Tunnel Scout can't carry anything. You'll have to use the Prize Grabber combo in order to get these. Combos you say? Yeah, that's just what I call a Tunnel Transport with a STT. It drops the claw, grabs the prize, and pulls the claw back up so it can deposit the prize. RockmoddeR
Never seen one of those one square islands before...and I really like having the TT actually carry the model of the vehicle being carried.
LockmanCapulet
Cool! This should be helpful on Search and Rescue and Water Works! (or whatever that massive level with water is)
