SpyboticsAgent
Greetings, Rock Raiders United. As my name implies, I am a fan of the Lego Spybotics series (especially Snaptrax). I am also a fan of Rock Raiders and the Lego Island series of games. I have been lurking about RRU for a while now, and I finally decided to actually join. My name is <PROTECTED DATA HERE>, I am from Idaho, and my primary hobbies include building things with Lego, tinkering with software, and working to get my collection of Lego games running on my Linux system. Phoenyx
Welcome. I have a Shadowstrike myself. I might be able to help with getting things to work on Linux. I have Ubuntu 10.04 as a secondary OS on my computer and I managed to get Steam running with full functionality.
Antillies
Hi there. It seems like most of us here have LEGOs, RR, and programming in common. I think you'll fit in nicely. :)
SpyboticsAgent
Hey, welcome to the community! Thanks! Welcome. I have a Shadowstrike myself. I might be able to help with getting things to work on Linux. I have Ubuntu 10.04 as a secondary OS on my computer and I managed to get Steam running with full functionality. Shadowstrike is a fun one. I especially like the design of Shadowstrike's claws. S70 is more difficult to turn on carpets, though, compared to my S45. I use Arch Linux, and so far Lego games have been the only ones to really give me trouble in WINE. Steam, Portal 1/2, TF2, MYST, and other programs all ran excellently, whereas with RR I get this upon launch: http://pastebin.com/F5uzumsE. Lego Island 2, on the other hand, launched perfectly, but everything 3D was messed up, making it unplayable. I'll have to see if Lego Island 1 will work, now that I've made a few tweaks..... Hi there. It seems like most of us here have LEGOs, RR, and programming in common. I think you'll fit in nicely. Indeed. I was quite impressed, during the period while I was simply lurking about, to see what has been done as far as modding RR.
McJobless
I remember Spybots...unfortunately, I don't remember the name, nor do I still have a copy of the software. I still have the Purple one, but he's been re-purposed into a war tank... Anyways, welcome to the forum! Enjoy your stay!
Redacted
hey there, welcome to RRU. i remember that there was a spybots game on the lego site, got removed some years ago ;[ i think it was called spybots:nightfall. it is probably still on some flash game site :]
SpyboticsAgent
@rockraider pascal: The Nightfall Incident can actually still be accessed as it was on the Lego site through the WayBack Machine. I wish such a thing existed for Lego Universe..... @Extreme: The purple Spybot would be Shadowstrike S70, if it hadn't been repurposed into a (probably quite impressive) battle tank. Addictgamer
Hey, welcome to the forum! I've never been able to run any lego game in wine. Except maybe alpha team, I don't remember. What I do instead is use a VM to run RR (I'm not actively interested in any other lego game, so I haven't bothered trying them in the VM, but I'm sure they'd work). Perhaps trying that instead of using WINE will allow you to play your lego games?
Phoenyx
Shadowstrike is a fun one. I especially like the design of Shadowstrike's claws. S70 is more difficult to turn on carpets, though, compared to my S45. I never had such an issue with S70. As long as I had fresh batteries installed it would run great on all surfaces. However, it wasn't as precise and was incapable of the laser maze mission at high difficulty levels.

SpyboticsAgent
@Phoenyx: It may vary from carpet to carpet. Most carpets I've encountered posed a problem for Shadowstrike, allowing my Snaptrax to easily outmaneuver it in missions such as Critical Countdown or The Mole. @SomeWierdGuyNamedBen: Thanks. @AddictGamer: I prefer to avoid using emulation when I can, so I choose to try each of my games in WINE before giving up and installing them in a VM instead. While the VM runs the games fairly well, I don't like using it as a long-term solution.
