superforno
Hi all Raiders! I'm having troubles with game in Windows 7 both Professional and Home Premium. I've followed that guides: Game Installer not running First try running the installing in compatibility mode for Windows 98. If it still does not work, you can still salvage your game by following this guide. - DONE "Missing d3drm.dll" error when running Rock Raiders Firstly you'll need to download the missing DLL here. Then place this DLL file in your installation directory (Usually "c:\Program Files\LEGO Media\Games\Rock Raiders\" ) or in your Windows System/System32 folder. - DONE Game Videos not playing First ensure you have the game disc in the drive as the video files are on the disc. If the videos still don't play you may need to install this required AVI codec. - DONE Music won't play The game is burnt like an audio CD, allowing it to be played in CD players. First ensure you have the game disc in the drive as the music files are on the disc. Unfortunately, it is not uncommon for the music not to play, may users have this issue. Other solutions to try for problems Run the game with compatibility mode for Windows 98 or Windows XP. Turn on 'Disable Visual Themes' and 'Disable Desktop Composition'. - DONE adding "Force to 640*480" Run the game in administrator mode. - DONE Run the game in windowed mode. Try the Microsoft Compatibility Toolkit. Result: When I click on game icon (or directly the executable), the loading screen appears for 15-30 seconds, Aero graphics fx has been deactivated and resolution goes to 640*480. Then the loading screen disappears, the screen flash a while, the resolution and the Aero effects are restored. I've checked in the Task Manager, just after the screen flashes, LegoRR.exe disappears from the process list. Can anyone help me?
McJobless
Erm, have you tried setting the colour depth from 32/64 bit to 16 bit? Also, remember to combine fixes, because you usually need to do more than one thing to get these old games running.

Everything signed with "DONE" above is made at the same time exactely for this reason...

superforno
Changed to 16 bit, 800*600, then I've tried, in the compatibility screen, "265 colors" mode with the other option indicated above. Every time the result won't change. Loading screen, heard the cd reading, then desktop and in the task manager LegoRR.exe and LegoRR.icd disappear... Damn I want to play! McJobless
Reinstall the game, and then extract the WAD files. Open Lego.cfg and find "TextureUsage". Change the number to something high, and save the file. Recompile your WAD files.

Ok, so, "reinstall the game" means repeat this guide (http://www.rockraide...vage-your-game/) right? Because installer won't run. Then i guess I should use wadtool right? "Number to something high", about hundreds? Thousands? Just to have an indication of high I'll try and let you know! Thanks! EDIT Currently is set to 3145728, how can I change it? EDIT Changed to 10000000, nothing changed. It quits after load screen.
McJobless
Alright, I want you to goto "Run" and type in "dxdiag", without quotes. Press enter, save the information to a text file on the desktop, then paste it all in a spoiler as a reply to this post. P.S.: To do a spoiler, simply write Reveal hidden contents Text Here . Remember to replace "Text Here" with the stuff from the dxdiag text file.

McJobless
I heard somewhere that the game doesn't like systems with more than 2GBs or 4GBs of RAM. If you can, take some sticks out. Moreover, if you can, you need to set LegoRR.exe's Processor Affinity to one core. It doesn't matter which one, just make sure only one box is checked. superforno
Nothing about affinity, RAM is needed, I can't take it out. Have I to give up?
McJobless
Not yet. I'm working on a solution. In the meantime, go through all the other support topics about Windows 7 and try their solutions.
superforno
I've read almost all topic about Win 7, maybe I missed something, I will check. In a topic I've seen this screen: Reveal hidden contents How do I enter this windows? Can be useful?
Phoenyx
Ah! That's an easy one. You'll just need to make a shortcut directly to LegoRR.exe.
McJobless
Or double click LegoRR.exe in the Program FilesLEGO MediaLEGO Rock Raiders (or whatever the path is) folder. I never use the shortcuts myself. Too much of a hassle.

The loading screen appear immediately, and then you know what happen...
Phoenyx
Wait, you're not even getting past the splash screen? Wow, that's a new one on me... Sorry. I can't help you without more information.

I can't help you without more information. Things happen in this way: double click on LegoRR.exe UAC request permission, press YES Screen goes to 640*480, 256 colours, aero goes off. the loading screen appears: Reveal hidden contents screen flashes black less than a second resolution and colours are restored, areo reactivated, in task manager LegoRR.exe disappears. McJobless
UAC, THAT STUPID SON OF A GUN. Can you move your LegoRR folder to the desktop and play the game from there?

But I think UAC confirmation appears because the option "Run as administrator" is checked! EDIT: Tryed to move folder on desktop, UAC deactivated, no changes on behaviours. Crash after black flash just after the loading screen. Damn :(
Phoenyx
Wow... if UAC isn't causing it... Do you have the disk version or diskless version of the game?
superforno
I have the disc version. It was a gift for my birthday, I think it was in 1999 or 2000, or around that time. Don't know if my version is a particular one.
Phoenyx
1999 release has the large .icd binary with a smaller executable I can correctly assume you run the game with the disc in the drive, so that's not a problem. Is the disc in good condition?

Is the disc in good condition? Yes it should be this one with large .icd. I had to copy the LegoRR.exe from EXE folder on disc to RR folder. Am I right with this? The disc seems to be in perfect conditions.
