mumboking
After doing a little bit of research, I've managed to get custom music into LEGO Racers 2. The music is 22050Hz Microsoft ADPCM in a WAV (Microsoft) container. If you want to create your own, here are the instructions. I will be using Audacity 1.3.13 for this. Open up your desired music in Audacity and set the Project Rate to 22050. Go to "Tracks > Resample" and choose "22050". Go to "File > Export" and set the "Save as type" dropdown to "Other uncompressed files". Click "Options". Change the "Header" dropdown to "WAV (Microsoft)" and the "Encoding" dropdown to "Microsoft ADPCM". OK the options then save your file with the name of the game's original music file. A file in the "LEGO Racers 2game datamusic" folder, called "readme.txt", will tell you what music is used where. If Audacity says "Are you sure you want to save the file under this name?", click "Yes". Cut/Copy your music file and paste it into the "LEGO Racers 2game datamusic" folder, overwriting the old one. (You could backup the original music if wanted.) Run the game to see if it worked. If it did, well done! If not, make sure you followed the steps correctly and try again. Lair
First of all, you're in the wrong forum. This is supposed to be a LEGO Racers 2 guide, but you're in the LEGO Racers forum. Second, you're late. If this has already been posted then you may delete this thread. But it's neater and more straightforward D:
mumboking
Aagh, ninja'd! Yeah I only just found that other thread. I didn't notice the Racers 2 modding category before. :'( Hmmm. Maybe this could get moved instead?
Cirevam
Topic successfully moved. Why is LR2 Modding Research under Lego Discussion anyways? Lair
Modded Lego
Why move it? it's the same thing, we already have a section about this. 8|
Lair
[#103112] The forum you are attempting to move the topic to does not allow posting or displaying of topics. Well, I tried. Just stick LR2 topics here until the Racers 2 subforum is set up. The Racer 2 forum is up. The modding research at least, even though the real one is a placeho-wait, is the research one offline too? Why move it? it's the same thing, we already have a section about this. wtf? LEGO Racers is the same thing as LEGO Racers 2? Seriously?
le717
@ Lair: This is more straight forward, point taken. But have you never heard of revisions? I'm current revising that tutorial to be a little more straight forward as I've been contacted by someone who said they can't figure it out. @Mumboking Yup, I ninja'd you by about 6 months. Wait a minute! I wrote my tutorial using Audacity 1.3.13 Beta! Are you sure you didn't copy my text or find my blog and modify it? :P @Cirevam I'm not at all trying to be mean or self-centered or anything like that, but as we already have a tutorial on this topic, why do we need this one again? I'm glad (no, thrilled) Mumboking was able to figure this out on his own (this might mean I won't have to work so hard on the lr1 audio ), but having two tutorials on the same thing will be confusing later on, as someone might post a question on one topic, and another one on the other, and we would have to go back on forth on the topics trying to answer the questions. Plus, I'm pretty sure Cyrem doesn't like duplicate topics, as they can cause confusion like above (and let's not forget the two different "post your wallpaper" topics.) Also, he said that if this has already been posted, it may be deleted.
mumboking
@le717 When I said I was ninja'd, It was because Lair posted a link to your thread before I found it myself. I worked it out by opening the file in Audacity, which it imported as 22050Hz. I tried creating a regular WAV file at 22050Hz and put into LR2's files, but it resulted in no music. I then viewed the file header in NotePad++. Googling part of the header (WAVEfmt 2) led me to this: http://irfanview-forum.de/archive/index.php/t-1030.html From there, I figured it out. :)
Cirevam
You're right le, we don't need a duplicate tutorial topic. I'll lock this one for now. If you really want this entire topic deleted, mumboking, send a PM to me or one of the other mods (except apemax who doesn't have modding powers in this particular subforum).
