So, I'm running Windows 7 Professional 64-bit on my Mac under VirtualBox. I'm not really concerned about my VM getting totally destroyed as I can just re-image it without too much trouble and I don't plan on using it all that much but I don't want to run around with no anti-virus at all. Normally, I use AVG but, obviousely, with a virtual machine, memory useage is a concern and AVG seems a little bulky. Can anyone recommend a free light-weight anti-virus/internet security suite?

You're likely not going to like my suggestion since it's relatively unpopular due to its extreme sensitivity, but avast! seems to work well for those situations.

I can't really recommend any of the others for your needs, Anti-Virus programs tend to be memory hogs by default and avast! just hogs the least.

My AV software for any computer I use, be it XP, Vista or 7, is Microsoft Security Essentials and Malwarebytes Anti-Malware Free. I put a MBAM shortcut in the Startup folder in the Start Menu so it reminds me to update it, and set the "Notify me if the database is x many days old" to 1, because I may know to update it, but other people may not. I update MSE right after boot, even though it updates by itself, to make sure I get the latest database. I try to run a quick scan with both of them every week, and if I know I'll be away for a little bit, I'll set them to run at the same time. And every once in a while, I'll run Super Anti-Spyware to remove any tracking cookies.

As your Win 7 is running in a VM, don't run the scans at the same time, or it will be stuck doing it for a few hours (and I can't do it on that Vista-launch laptop I can't get 1999 LR to run on. That PC had an faulty nVidia GPU in it, it sometimes shuts down or ges a BSOD from over-heating or running too much stuff at once, and I can't seem to have FF, and 3 WinExplorers open at the same time without something messing up.).

That's what I use and recommend to anyone looking for a free AV solution.
