adamirable
Ive installed rock raiders on my computer, as one of the tutorials on here told me too. I also downloaded the missing driver that needed to be put in the system folder. I go to run the .EXE file i get the promt on what i want to start it with, "RGB emulation" or "Direct3d HAL", every option i chose, window or full screen i then get a black screen as if somethings loading, then flickering, then get returned to my desktop with nothing changed. Not even a prompt saying "error: whatever" I have read all the other people having problems, and it doesnt apply to me, as i dont even get a loading screen, just black for one-ish seconds, then flickrering, then square one. I have tried playing round with every combination of windows compatibility, the screen resolution, the colour limit, everything! PLEASSEE HELP i want to release my inner child! Addictgamer
First off, that was a missing DLL, not a driver. Second of all...Well. I really have no idea what's wrong. This is not in a VM, correct? Also, do you have directx installed?
Phoenyx
Run it in windowed mode and see what happens.
RRDocs
Install DLL. Worked for me. Most likely is that.
McJobless
Install DLL. Worked for me. Most likely is that. He did that, did you not read? Have you got the Windows XP emulator thingy-mabob you can get for Windows 7? Also, is it 32-bit or 64-bit?
Snow Monk
Mine is doing the similar problem. I've tried installing it several ways, and it always installs fine. However, when I go to play, (compatibility or not) it'll start up, get a black screen, with the typical 'falling lego bricks' noise in the back, then crash after that. No return to desktop, have to task manger close it to return to desktop. Failing this early in the boot up is pretty bad, the disk is fine, and I've even tried a version off TPB to see if it was my disk, and encountered the same prob. (the downloaded one was XP compatible) I'm running 7HP, but have tried all options listed above on my older Desktop running XP. Same result regardless. Is all hope lost? Seems like I'm on the road to ebay for an XP compatible disk and try that....
Cirevam
Try disabling AVIs if that's where the game is crashing. After extracting the WADs (use the search function, look at the tutorials section, it's hanging out right there), open Lego.cfg and find the line DontPlayAVIs. Change FALSE to TRUE, then try running it again. Alternatively, just remove the bloody things. They're in the AVI folder, so if you play discless you can just delete lmi640.avi and the rest won't show up since they're stored on the disc. loop.avi is slightly different and the game doesn't like it when I put custom ones in its place, so you should be fine leaving it in, but the game doesn't care if you remove it. Somehow, I no longer hear the logo assemble ether, it just show the brief loading screen, (always at 100%), then crashes to desktop now. Looks like no LRR for me. That's the result of disabling AVIs, it skips the videos from playing. Did you say it was doing the same thing on your XP machine?
Snow Monk
Did you say it was doing the same thing on your XP machine? Actually, it wasn't working on ether cpu, but modding the config file (no avi's) made it take right off on the older, XP machine. (still nothin' on my 7HP laptop, just crashed to desktop no matter what I've done. This is awesome, I've wanted to play this for several weeks now, and have always been so close. The only thing I've noticed is the music doesn't play.... Time to play a few missions to make sure it works right, then go to set the unlock feature, then try my hand at modded after I've backed everything up, and created a restore point.... Thanks you!
