rndbug
I recently discovered this website, and was able to manually install LRR thanks to this thread. I then proceeded to place the normally missing d3drm.dll file (downloaded from here ) into the folder with the files extracted from my disc. I'm sorry if there's a thread that has already resolved this issue, but I didn't see one withing the first few pages of this part of the forum. The game now launches, but crashes approximately 10% into the loading bar. Cirevam
Usually the game crashes on the first loading screen due to one of several things: malformed CFG code, malformed file/directory relationships in an object defined in the CFG, an invalid LWO, an invalid BMP being referenced by a valid LWO, a missing BMP being referenced by a valid LWO, and hijinks. Basically, if you mod the game in any way and mess something up, it could cause the game to crash. I will say this much: a crash that early seems more like a CFG error to me, but computer hijinks are always a possibility.
rndbug
I'm not quite that tech savvy. Is there a way you could simplify that into layman's terms? Sorry.
TheDoctor
I'm not quite that tech savvy. Is there a way you could simplify that into layman's terms? Sorry. You broke something. Chances are you probably didn't manually install the game right.
rndbug
Any suggestions as to how to fix it, then? Specific instructions for the manual installation? Anything? Please?
TheDoctor
Put the RR disk in and run this. It should install the game for you on to your desktop. http://www.rockraidersunited.org/topic/3768-lrr-alternate-installer/
rndbug
I'm having trouble understanding your installer. I extracted the files from the original zip, and run "run.bat" and it does nothing more than say "Found CD/DVD Drive: E: DVD RW Drive (E:) Lego Rock Raiders oemt Press any key to continue..." Once I advance it past the pause script, it simply closes. Am I missing something?
Lair
If it's crashing at 10%, it's not even loading the sounds. That's near the object's territory I think. What happens when you try to install it normally?
rndbug
I'm not sure. I don't have administrator rights on my computer, and my parents don't enjoy having to come input their password to run the installer. I do know that the installer seems to encounter an error any time it tries to run. It's been a while, so I don't remember the error code it's been giving me. I'll see if I can find out and edit it in later.
