Don't know bout you guys, but I am ready for Halo 4. BTW I am a Halo fanatic. Played the games, read the books, did it all!

Aye, same here. It looks pretty awesome and I can't wait to play it! I also played all the games and read half of the books.

As soon as I heard rumours about Halo 4 I figured Bungie was going for another 7 reference. Reach, CE, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6. Come on guys...

Played the Halo 1 demo and haven't been interested in it since.

Didn't Bungie say they would not make any more Halo games?

Bungie finished after Reach. That was it. 343 Industries is now making a new Halo Trilogy, and yes, they are directly owned by Microsoft (probably even a branch of Microsoft).

I could leave a troll comment about FPS games, but I won't.

inb4 comment about fps being mainstream for a reason

Well there you have it. Rarely do another developer capture the same idea and perspective as the original developer. Microsoft is simply cashing in, prepare for disappointment.

I have to say, though, it does look pretty impressive what they are planning on doing, even the Kinect/Project Glass scanning stuff. I think I read somewhere this will also be a launch title (re-release maybe?) for the possible 720, so who knows what they plan on doing with it. From what I've seen so far, with exception to Waypoint, all looks fantastic.

Hate the idea of the online pass, too. Damn you, EA. You started a curse on gaming everywhere.

Is this more DRM garbage from them?

Why can't FPS games return to the old-style format like Quake? Shootmania looks promising, though...

I've never really been much of a HALO fan. It just wasn't around when I first started gaming (my first serious game was a 3D aircraft shoot-em-up called Incoming for the PC), and I really don't have much of an interest in it.

Objectively, I'm sure that 343 Industries can do a lot better than Bungie with the whole "Blatant Cash-In Sequel" deal, but I'm not really familiar with the series as a whole - I only know that 343 Guilty Spark is one of the most hated video game characters of all time and that HALO 2's ending was an obvious shameless plug for Reach.

343 is not among them most hated, unless you're looking at a very weird list. Bungie didn't use a blatant cash-in sequel, they made two more games to go out "with a bang". Both were fantastic.

Your f***ing high. Halo 2 was never a plug for Reach. They didn't get the idea to do Reach till years later, when they sought independence from Microsoft and they needed something amazing to exit the series with. Halo 2's ending was cut due to time constraints, so they decided then to create a sequel, Halo 3. If they had time, you would have killed Truth right then and there on Earth. Reach was made years later, and it was made because it was an element of the Halo universe which had so much discussion surrounding it, but no actual visuals (except for the small cinematic at the start of 2, which mainly focused on the PoA anyways).

The only complaint I have with any Halo game is that in Reach they went crazy with the amount of Spartans they added to canon. I thought the Spartans were limited in number, but apparently not.

I kinda screwed up with the order of the games, but then again I did say I haven't had much experience with the series (how was I to know that Reach was a prequel?).

As for me saying that 343 is hated, go and yell at the Autarch of Flame about it - that's who I got that info from. Just don't blame me if your hair and eyebrows get burned off. Keep in mind that he's always nagging about his "superiority" and he kills this guy named Johnson to boot.

Finally, at the end of Halo 2, Master Chief says that he's "going to finish the fight" before the credits role, as though Bungie already had a sequel in the works at the moment. Does that remind you of the ending to a certain Mega Man game, where Dr. Wily simply escapes through a door?

Because the guy said at the very start of Halo 2 said that Reach was already destroyed? Nobody makes games about planets which were turned to glass and then nothing lives on them.

I haven't heard of him, and as such his opinion doesn't concern me. Johnson is an NPC with tutorial/invulnerable armour in Halo 2 onwards, so unless he's playing Halo 1, he's hacking.

As I already said, they didn't have the time to finish the proper ending, so Bungie made the decision that they would have to make another sequel which was the ending for Halo 2. They never planned on originally doing it, it was only after E3 one year, when they "accidentally" spent 6 months on a teaser trailer, thus cutting away time from making the rest of the game. Whoops.

And no, I never played Mega Man.

Oh look.

IT'S THIS TOPIC.

Halo is generic uninspired rubbish. It's just a milked franchise. Everyone knows that the new enemies will be the Forerunners, even though they died out. And the Bots try to kill you because your suit is contaminated with the flood. The TV series will be base on Infinity, which, because it is apparently weaponless, will mean they will probably try to rip-off Star Trek. Actually, the entire Halo 1 experience was an absolute rip-off of Alien. And OH LOOK! Even though they made a peace treaty with the Cov, IT GETS BLOWN OFF FOR NO REASON. Oh, wait, there is a reason. Because they need to do less work on the game and just tone down the Cov's difficulty.

EDIT: I forgot something. You are the last "Spartan II". WHERE THE HECK DID THE OTHER ONES COME FROM IN HALO 4!?

Don't even get me started on the plot.

Um... If you knew anything about Halo, you'd know that after the Spartan II Program, they created Spartan III soldiers which were cheaper and easier.

And if you watched Halo Legends, Origins 1&2, they show a flood spawn emerge from under a forerunner helmet AFTER the halo rings fired, which suggests that the forerunners could have survived the rings destruction

OH LOOK, IT'S THIS DUDE.

Halo CE was fantastic, and remains a legend of gaming. Halo 2 as well. Yes, Microsoft is milking the franchise like a diseased cow, but show me what company isn't? Bungie was the best developer ever in the FPS world, and Halo was fantastic.

Everyone knows that the new enemies will be the Forerunners, even though they died out. And the Bots try to kill you because your suit is contaminated with the flood.

There was no evidence ever to say that they died out. It just states they were missing. Moreover, WRONG, WRONG, WRONG, WRONG. The Forerunners are the good guys, numbnuts, and the Sentinels kill you because they deem you a threat to the Forerunner installation. OBVIOUSLY, somebody couldn't get past the last level in Halo 3. Naww...how cute.

...what TV series?

Halo is nothing like Alien. Unless you've kind of blurred your eyes and only played the flood's first level in Halo CE, you would know that Halo has no similarities to Alien at all.

...you're joking, right? When you kill Truth, that doesn't signal the end of the Covenant...that's like saying killing the President of America will signal the end of the USA. They elect a new leader and the scattered groups regroup and attack again.

EDIT: I forgot something. You are the last "Spartan II". WHERE THE HECK DID THE OTHER ONES COME FROM IN HALO 4!?

Learn the fiction before you talk. There are no other SPARTANs in Halo IV. The SPARTANs in Reach were A) IIIs, B) Before Master Chief and C) All killed.

I give your post a 2/10. You tried, but my jimmies remain unrustled. Thanks for playing, go back to complaining about how Valve can't count to 3.

Hey look its the original pop-up shooting galler- whoops that's gears, sorry. Yeah, H4 looks decent, as long as it uses the reach health system, where health only regens to the max of the segment you're on. I'm not a fan of health regen, but done like that, its bearable. I'm also not a fan on 2 weapon limits, but oh well.
