Best Priority Set?

I found one online awhile ago but I lost the note containing it and I can't find it again.

Does anyone know what is supposedly the best priority set? I think it started with recharge energy crystals as the top, with construct builds second and reinforcements third; I do know that drilling came absolutely last. I can't remember the order of everything else though.

This is what I use:

  • Recharge
  • Repair
  • Reinforce
  • Construct
  • Drive (sometimes moved up if they're being stupid)
  • Drill
  • Crystals
  • Ore
  • Rubble (being interchangeable with the above)

I use this because drilling has an odd priority over everything else. Recharge seems to have that too, but how often do you need to recharge crystals? Repair is also hardly used because electric fences are overpowered.

  • Reinforce
  • Get In Vehicle
  • Construction
  • Crystals
  • Clear Rubble
  • Ore
  • Repair
  • Recharge
  • Drill

I usually just change them a bit during a level, if I feel so. And then I disable the rubbleclearing in some levels so the Raiders won't run across the map all the time.

I use

Reinforce

Construct

Crystals

Drill

Rubble

Ore

Repair(rarely used)

Recharge(never recall using legitimately(only to see it work))

Drive(I never request a driver. I choose the driver)

I have my priorities in this order...

  • Recharge Energy Crystals (Only if a Recharge Seam is present; otherwise it goes last)
  • Repair
  • Get Driver
  • Construction
  • Drilling
  • Reinforcement
  • Clear Rubble
  • Energy Crystals
  • Ore

  • 4 months later...

I usually fool with them a lot during a mission. For example, I disable rubble clearing when I'm about to enter the Sea of Rubble in Frozen Frenzy, then after I dig everything out with a chrome crusher I re-enable it and set it higher on the list.

If I'm trying to build a Support Station, I usually max out building.

However, if there's one setting I always use at the start of a map I haven't played before, it's the following (with reasoning):

1. Reinforcement (A LANDSLIDE HAS OCCURRED! A LANDSLIDE HAS OCCURRED! Or in my case... SEISMIC ACTIVITY HAS CAUSED A ROCKSLIDE! SEISMIC ACTIVITY HAS CAUSED A ROCKSLIDE!)

2. Construction (Because otherwise I can never get that support station built)

3. Get Driver (I usually tell units to do this directly, but it still helps)

4. Energy Crystals (Because)

5. Clear Rubble (So that the guy who's clearing rubble doesn't decide to pick up ore in the process)

6. Ore (meh)

7. Recharge (I rarely if ever use lasers in the stock game)

8. Repair (Why would anyone need this? If your buildings are getting damaged, you're doing something wrong)

9. Drilling (If I need walls drilled quickly, I usually tell a unit to do so directly)

My priorities generally go as such:

Driving

Most of my RR's are fully trained, so (usually) I don't have to wait too long for one to get in one.

Construction

I want my buildings NOW!

Repair

Never particularly needed this, unless I feel like having some fun with lazers, but it's up there just in case.

Reinforcement

Landslides are not nice, especially when they happen on ore-filled rubble. When I find a new cavern, I want this to have priority. Since I don't often have construction going on when I have new drilling / cavern discovery, This becomes the main priority during those times.

Drilling

I prefer it when drilling happens within the same day it's ordered.

Rubble

A clean cavern floor makes for quicker travel. In addition, if the ore's cleared out of the rubble quickly enough, then the ore isn't lost in a landslide ( though the RR should have reinforced the walls behind right away anyways) This priority gets periodically disabled when the there's excessive landslides, rubble far away from base, or when I discover new caverns.

Crystals

I only keep this above ore so that I can have enough for excessive amounts of vehicles. I occasionally disable this when the crystal requirement is a lot lower than the number of crystals in the level, so I can make sure I don't win the level before I've dug absolutely everything I can.

Ore

Buildings, upgrades, power paths, I need ore.

Recharge

I'm putting this here since until I started playing with the .cfg, I'd never used any form of lazer device unless I wanted to destroy my own base. Once I finish rebalancing vehicles, I'd put this to the top of the list, as I expect to use lazers a lot more on recharge-enabled levels.

As I'm sure is with some other people, I just naturally change them as the mission progresses and I see what elements the level has. Generally, though, this is what my list ends up looking like:

  1. Repair - In my playthroughs, if you need to repair something, it's a good indicator WWIII has started, so I always like to try keep everything fixed so it can survive the onslaught.
  2. Recharge - Recharge Seams are rare and extremely useful, so this is usually down the bottom, but I stick it up the top for levels where they're present.
  3. Reinforce - I like to spam reinforce walls so my rock raiders don't have to move at loading bar speeds across the map everytime there's a landslide.
  4. Construct - Without buildings, where would we be?
  5. Drive - GET IN THAT VEHICLE. GET IN THE MOTHERf****ING VEHICLE. NO, DON'T EAT THE SANDWICH. PUT DOWN THE GODDAM SANDWICH AND GET THE IN MOTHERf****ING VEHICLE.
  6. Drill - We obviously need resources, but I usually directly order my troops to do this so I can use the pretty 1st Person Mode.
  7. Crystals - They seem to prioritize this in first place regardless of where I put it.
  8. Ore - Everytime they go for the ore instead of the crystals, I die a little inside.
  9. Rubble - Even worse than Free Sandwich Day at the Support Station, Rock Raiders gain an almost sexual joy out of clearing rubble. It doesn't matter where it is, if there's even one tile of rubble on the map, every single Raider flocks to it like their tiny digital lives depend on it. These guys will avoid getting in a f****ing tank with lasers just so they can go dig one tile of rubble. WHERE DO THEY EVEN SHOVEL IT TOO? DOES IT EVAPORATE INTO THE AIR? THIS IS LUNACY.
