TheKonquerer
I, like most people who probably aren't regulars around here, decided to relive my childhood out of the blue oneday. I figured I would just install LRR and jump right into playing with the quick ddl fix that I performed 2 years ago on Vista. Now however, I have Windows 7 and I have tried all the suggestions that you guys have in the Sticky. Running in 256 colors, in a 640x480 res, visual themes disabled, desktop composition disabled, compability mode running, and being run as an admininstrator are all being performed at once. I make it past the intro movie and fly through the loading screen until loading is about 65% of the way done, then it slows to a standstill for about 30 seconds before it finishes loading. I make it to the menu, but it is completely frozen. The mouse will not move, there is absolutely no sound, and none of those crazy rock raiders and their shenanagins. The game will just stay like that for forever (and by forever I mean I lost patience at about 10 minutes in), and when I control + alt + delete to the task manager it says the game is not responding. I didn't see anybody else experiencing this kind of problem with Windows 7 so I figured I might have one of those "unique" cases, but I might not. I just like to think that I'm special because thats what my mommy said. So if there are any of you loyal, dedicated, regular, life-saving, cave-in-preventing, slimey-slug-sluggers, rock-monster-widoweres still out there prowling this fine bastion of hope for us ninties children reminiscing to simpler times, I beg you to teleport me out safely so I can enjoy this underappreciated work of art. PS I tried installing it on Vista as well (I have two operating systems on my PC), and am experiencing the same problem PPS Slimey, Slug, Hole... Cirevam
Give us some system specs, especially graphics hardware, and we might be able to help. This problem is new to me. Most people just have the game crash during or before the main loading screen. Lair
TheDoctor
We do get these weird cases once in a while because people's computers are different and I know for a fact that the devs were rushed to get this game out. The first time when I got LRR, the game didn't want to install. Then I got a new disk and it worked fine and dandy. I made an installer that copies the game files right off the disk a tried it on my old disk. Guess what happened? It wasn't a flawless install like my other disk. This leads me to believe that some disks are just naturally borked. Though this might not be the case if your managed to get it working before. I don't know why this would happen, because usually the game crashes when it fails to load something it needs. Maybe the others here have a clue as to what this is. Maybe you need a new disk. Maybe your computer is just derp.
