s0d3rb3rg
Scan a planet. Is the Flood there? Yes? Blow it up with the Death Star. Yes, but that would probably lead to having to destroy almost every planet in the galaxy. They would loose in a space battle. They can take control over space ships. But seriously. You can't compare the two... McJobless
Addictgamer
But seriously. You can't compare the two... This. I'm sorry, I could not resist this discussion. I'll go back to my corner making better universes than the two of these combined after I say the following. As for the flood, robots can be used to counter them if it comes to that. So could the force. But so could more robots. The applications of robots are limitless. The empire could easily build countless armies of them to hunt down every last flood in existence and wipe them out of existence. I wouldn't be surprised if they simply developed a biological weapon to destroy the flood and use it as sort of a "mosquito repellent" on the planets the empire populates or wishes to populate to kill any and all flood that reach those planets or whatever ships that have had the same applied to them. And as we all know, the technology seen in common use is far behind the latest technology. There are far too many engineering possibilities with just a little bit of research, much less the entirety of our knowledge, which is far inferior to that of the empire. The limit is George Lucas's imagination. Now, couple the flood working together with the precursors, the covenant, the UNSNC whatever it's speeled, and whatever else the HALO universe has to offer, and it'd be a different story. Edit: Also: What happened when Obi died? Can the flood counter that?
Antillies
I don't see how the Flood could be a threat in the SW universe. Scan a planet. Is the Flood there? Yes? Blow it up with the Death Star. Repeat for other infected planets. Space is such a vast expanse that even if the mutagen spore cell whatever it is could survive a vacuum for centuries, the probability of it hitching onto something that would lead it to a viable host in time would be statistically zero. It's far more simple than that. All you need to do is quarantine a planet with a suspected infection and then land ground forces to deal with it or glass that portion of the surface. The Flood can't spread effectively if it's denied hosts. If a ship is attacked, you either board and remove the blemish or you blow it out of the sky. Plus, the Star Wars galaxy has already dealt with an invasion of a biologically-minded race - the Yuuzahn Vong. They utterly decimated the New Republic but the Empire did not lose a single planet. Addictgamer
I have calculated everything carefully. Due to the laws of physics not being static across the universe, the life in the far far away galaxy of star wars can only exist there, and the life in Halo can only exist in the milky way. The winner is the one who does not leave his galaxy. Loser is the one that does. Star war universe has an immense population, so it could easily afford losing several billion people in traveling too far. Halo Universe...Ya, maybe not as much population, but it's not like they're stupid enough to try again and again until it's up to two people to repopulate the galaxy. Thus, It's a stalemate. A draw. Not epic you say? Imagine everybody on a ship spontaneously combusting as their part of the ship leaves the safe zone for their lifeform. Or would they explode? Or would they turn green and dematerialize? It'd still be epic no matter what it is. Your argument is invalid. Aha. Ahahahaha.

Addictgamer
Even if war is ongoing, the outcome can already be decided. As is the case here. It's like declaring war on somebody in a RTS but there's an uncrossable barrier separating you two. You'll be at war forever, but the outcome is decided from the start. Minifig9292
No I mean it, you literally can't compare the two. It's like apples and oranges, they're both fruit, but extremely different. Star-Wars is more or less a fantasy story, while Halo is a story more grounded in reality. Star-Wars has a magical feel to it, it's a tale focused around a bunch of wizards and the constant struggle between light and dark. Halo is more gritty and real, it's about fighting for survival and exploring the ancient unknown. They are two entirely different beasts. The same goes for the Star Wars vs. Star Trek argument. You can't do it. This thread should not be here, it has no purpose. To say one is better than the other is to say something like: "Mars is better than your dog." It's nonsense and cannot be justified. Besides I love both of them and cannot choose. McJobless and s0d3rb3rg
Baz
Neither are rooted enough hard-core physics for them to be seriously comparable beyond picking favorites, hence my unconstructive comment above. any character from Halo and prove they're more amazing than all the Star Wars characters. How can a character from a shooting game be better than a character from a movie? Most shooters are pretty much movies nowadays. Uh...how? It's just a bunch of mindless shooting things. These days, in between mindless shooting there are lots of mindless cut-scenes. This is MODERN first-person shooters we're talking about here. Though I wouldn't really count Halo under that category. STUDZ
You know, this is like comparing Marvel to DC. It's just... not possible. It's all a matter of preference. Like I'd say Marvel would win by default for having only one universe and no "reboot" button. And Stan Lee. Then again... The DC too-damn-manyverse might have a fighting chance because of one character:
Lair
You know, this is like comparing Marvel to DC. Uh...how? DC and Marvel are both companies that make superhero comics. This is a movie series compared to a game series. Then again... The DC too--manyverse might have a fighting chance because of one character: Because he's so much more powerful than Superman, right? Zephyria
Honestly, the thread was a bad idea in the first place, as fanboys of one series would state that their series is obviously the winner, and then show off "proof" that really only amounts to the universe they're a fanboy of. Cy, for example, with SW. Extreme, for example, with HALO ...its why I hesitate taking sides. STUDZ, s0d3rb3rg, Retsnom Kcor and 1 other
McJobless
Halo is the winner. At least when they did prequels, 343 and Bungie didn't spend too much time on politics, a terrible love story and Obi-Wan's terrible joke...

McJobless
I've played through both main Freespace games plus too many user-made campaigns to count. Cyrem has both games too. Hipster cred revoked. I third that. I got Freespace 2 on a DVD from a gaming mag with a bunch of custom maps, including the entire first game's campaign remade. I still say Halo is better than that and Star Wars. Nowhere as good as BioShock or Saint's Row The Third, however.
Cirevam
I still say that the series that single-handedly popularized the two-weapons-only mechanic in the FPS genre (and maybe recharging health, but it started with just shields) is a bit of a downer in my eyes. It's alright, I played through the whole game and it was enjoyable overall, but I hated not being able to carry more than two weapons when the Chief could clearly carry more. Then again, Star Wars brought whiny emo Anakin to the table, so Halo gets a point for avoiding that. McJobless
