Creator
Even though I haven't used it myself, I saw videos of people taking a look at the tracks by means of origamiguy's GDB Viewer and noticed, that you can actually see all the power-ups/bricks where you would find them in game, which lead me to the question, whether or not it was possible to change their placement by messing with the .gdb-files. Specifically, I was thinking about moving some red bricks out of Redbeard's path, and maybe putting some green bricks where AI racers might actually collect them. Also, I was wondering if someone had ever tried to mess with the opponents' waypoints. From what I have seen, I'm fairly certain that High Voltage created most AI racers' pathways the same way the game geenrates your ghost form when racing against Veronica Volt. This is especially evident on Dark Forest Dash, at the point where the ghost crosses the road, as well as in the beginning of Magma Moon Marathon, where Pharaoh's Mummy will sometimes bump off some unseen object right after the start. So, yeah, is there any way to give the opponent's new waypoints to follow, or is that beyond our possibilities?
Cirevam
Right now I'm not sure how well origamiguy understands the AI path file, but we can change the powerup layout for each track. It's controlled in PWB files (I know I've seen an image where he filled the test track with hundreds of powerups) but I'm not sure if a full tool has been written to create the files yet. Here are some topics you can look at if you want to learn more:
Creator
Thank you. Do you know whether or not Founder ever got around to bringing us the tool to convert the Ini-files back into PWB format, or can this be done manually (if you can do it manually, could you please explain to me how it's done?). Also, sadly I'm not sure if origamiguy is still working on Lego Racers. He didn't reply to my PM.
le717
Even though I haven't used it myself, I saw videos of people taking a look at the tracks by means of origamiguy's GDB Viewer You might be talking about me. I have videos of every single LR track viewed in origamiguy's GBD viewer, and I just got a comment on this one yesterday. For the PWB files, all I can say is the same thing Cirevam said. AI path as well. Do you know whether or not Founder ever got around to bringing us the tool to convert the Ini-files back into PWB format, You mean , Founder is just his user title (notice that yours says "Newbie"). No, Cyrem has never written the PWB writer. He said that origamiguy was making a univerisal converter, but that has yet to be released, so I too wish Cyrem's tool was complete. or can this be done manually (if you can do it manually, could you please explain to me how it's done?). The PWB file is a binary file, and it seems it can't be modded without converting it. If you know how to program, you can write a new converter using the file documentation here (although it may be out of date due to new discoveries origamiguy has made since then). Other than writing a new program or Cyrem finishing his program, nothing can be done. Also, sadly I'm not sure if origamiguy is still working on Lego Racers. He didn't reply to my PM. We are not completely sure ourselves. He last signed in at 4:31 PM yesterday (EST time), but he hasn't posted since June 18. He usually takes a few days to reply to PMs. I guess unless he posts or makes a topic saying he has completely modded the entire game and releases his tools (or something close to that), we won't know. Creator
Oh, yes, you're right there. The one commenting on your video yesterday was indeed me. You mean , Founder is just his user title (notice that yours says "Newbie"). No, Cyrem has never written the PWB writer. He said that origamiguy was making a univerisal converter, but that has yet to be released, so I too wish Cyrem's tool was complete. I feel so ashamed of myself... Guess I just didn't scroll all the way up when I was finished riflingt through the replies. Let's just hope Origamiguy is still working on his magnificent tool, then!
