Rock Raiders WINE

Hello, I used to be a big fan of LRR, and recently I found my old disk, so I installed it on WINE, and ran it. However the graphics are messed up and terrible, and the game crashes after the first mission and I can't see what I'm doing because the cursor makes a copy of itself and leaves a trail, Is this due to a direct X issue? If so, what direct X do I need and where do I put it??

Thanks!!!!

You got it to run that far in wine? Congratulations, that's the farthest I've heard yet. Unfortunately, it's probably not going to get any better. The only way to make it run better is to run it on windows (or in a Windows VM).

I don't have any experience running LRR in WINE, but I have been able to run some of our other DDI titles. The ones that worked were all DX8, however LRR is DX5/6. DX8, 9, 10, etc are supposed to be backward compatible, but for the sake of WINE, you may want to try specifically using DX 5 or 6 (if that is possible).

What did you do to get that far? It crashes right away for me under Wine along with LEGO Racers. Wine tricks used and Winelog info would be helpful.

Well, to get Rock raiders to get this far in WINE

1. Install

2. Open winetricks

3. Get Quartz, Amstream, and devenum,

4. Set Windows version to 98 or to 95

5. Run

Winelog

Anyway, I have set up Rock Raiders in a virtual Machine Windows XP because Windows 98 simply can't get the drivers because its too old. (how did you guys do it?)

I installed it on Windows, than when I launch it, I get this feedback ''Direct X 3D accelration not found'' Help is appreciated :P

That is pretty much what it is like on WINE. Or anything not 100% Windows.

guh, lrr on mac... horrid thing.

I've been getting that for everything 3D related on my new virtualbox VM. I say new because I have an older one I set up several months ago, and 3D acceleration works fine on it and it runs LRR and all that (but no IXS sadly), yet my new one just refuses to work. So I'd like to know too.
