LEGO's latest license is The Lone Ranger, an upcoming Disney film based on, well, the Lone Ranger. LEGO released a teaser image for the upcoming theme a while back, which has been circulating around the internet.

Now, Brickset has reported that the latest LEGO consumer catalog contains pictures of the sets, and thanks to user D-Dennis, catalog scans showing the new western theme are now available:

While this is certainly good news for people who are fans of the movie or just fans of westerns, it's also bad news for the Modular Western Town on LEGO Cuusoo. Cuusoo projects can be rejected for simply being too similar to other LEGO sets or themes also in production, and it's possible that the simple existence of LEGO The Lone Ranger could spell rejection for this popular Cuusoo idea, even if it was posted online before LEGO The Lone Ranger was announced. This also means we likely won't be seeing an original, non-licensed LEGO Western theme for quite some time now.

The sets look good, but I really do hope they don't cancel that Cuusoo project. If they do, I'd expect a bit of backlash because there is a fair amount of people that want it.

As for the movie, eeeeehhh.... I don't see anything worth going to the movies for. I would have preferred a proper western movie... or a movie that actually uses native Americans in it.

I was actually JUST about to post this... Beaten me to the punch, my friend!

But still... At least we get another Western-styled theme, even if it is licensed! Although I don't like how movies can't (or won't) represent Native Americans the way they used to...

And what's this? JOHNNY DEPP would be portraying Tonto!?!? How the hell are they even going to PORTRAY Tonto??? On another note, that would mean Depp would have two different minifigure forms (Tonto and Captain Jack Sparrow).

Still, I smell another half-assed live-action Disney movie... Hopefully this one won't flop though. I'm still trying to get the taste of Prince of Persia out of my mouth.
