Noob Slayer
This thing has always been bugging me...ergh. Anyway, when you unlock Redbeard and play as him, the back of his head is half yellow and half brown-ish. I'd like to fix this problem. Is it possible that something in the .JAM archive controls this? Can someone please help me?
lol username
Probably a texture screw-up or something. Try temporarily swapping textures around and see what happens, just to see if it is indeed that.
Noob Slayer
I can't find any textures in relation to the back of his head. I hope this isn't hard-coded.
Creator
As far as I know, those "single-colour-bits" are usually defined by a single pixel within the corresponding texture file. Actually, there are quite a few other texture screw-ups. For example, both Gail Storm and the Baron von Barron as AI racers have part of their helmets coloured beige, and the back of AI Basil the Batlord's helmet has a rather obvious hole in it. How this could have gone unnoticed by the developers is beyond me.
Jimbob
I haven't noticed that, but if you're playing as him, it'll be in the CR_DFLT.BMP texture. In my Skin Texturing tutorial you can download the texture for him, and just recolour it. I don't think I found out where exactly the head colour is defined, but I know it definitely can be defined through this texture, as I went through every single head as the player and they all recoloured black when I made the textures black. Noob Slayer
Well, this is awesome...I can totally use these for my custom decals in Digital Designer! But I can't find anything about the back of his head...I'll upload a screenshot. See it? The back of AI Captain Redbeard's head is full yellow, but this is just messed up...this is what I'm trying to fix.
Jimbob
Oh, I remember that now... ...nope, nothing I can think of to fix it. Poor shading on the game's behalf?
Noob Slayer
Hm...probably. Then again, we have no clue what High Voltage Software was doing when they coded this game, because the voices are screwed up, and this...
le717
That looks more like a UV map issue than a texture one. Again, do what jamesster said and swap the texture. If it is not fixed, then it is the UV. And before you ask, no, it is not yet possible to edit and UV maps. We can only do that when the formats are broken. Noob Slayer
I'll try it.
twoeasythree
I think it has something to do with his hat. I always remembered as a kid, that Redbeard uses Johnny Thunder's voice, so I made his character and car, but swapped out his head with Johnny Thunder's, and the back of his head is half yellow, half grey. (2001 version , if this actually matters) I don't remember it affecting other heads though, only Johnny's. This affects all heads (other than Redbeard himself). I always thought it was an easter egg or some sort. I don't have LR1 on this computer now to screenshot it though.
alan
He uses Johnny Thunder's voice because the developers of the game messed up the voice files completely, that has nothing to do with the head textures.
twoeasythree
I know, that was me as a kid, thinking "Hey I want my Redbeard to sound like the one I race" so I changed the head to Johnny's. Here's the glitch. This is with any other head. This is Redbeard's head.
Jack Bluebeard
We all know that. The glitch isn't with the faces, but in its own hat. Maybe the bug is in a file script of the hat. It's very strange that the bug isn't present in the Nintendo 64 version of the game.
grappigegovert
Maybe you could copy the model/texture of the hat from the n64 version over to the pc version to see if it still happens.

Yeah, I know that, but it's kinda odd that rebeard's shade on his head is different from the others.
