plakrast
This looks amazing but I have no experience at all with applying these mods. Can I use patchit with this? Just a second, I'll make one. Just make sure you have PatchIt already set up! EDIT: Here you go! New Skyboxes (PatchIt! Compatible) Creator, will you add the updated download and the image to the topic post? You'll find the original BBCode in the PatchIt! topic. Thanks!

plakrast
Unfortunately, even with patchit, the mod doesn't seem to take effect. Patchit v.1.1.0 claimed it was a legacy mod, but I don't know if that had anything to do with it. For now, I'll live with the defaults though. Maybe I'll return to this mod in particular if all the skyboxes are finished.

To install it manually you just need to merge the folders in the ZIP with the existing folders in the JAM(replacing the SKB files)... thats pretty much it. What Cyrem is True, but you might not have your Racers installation set up for modding. I suggest uninstalling PatchIt! 1.1.0 and getting 1.0.3.1, then reading Setting Up/Installing a LEGO Racers Mod. It'll help explain everything. If you have any questions, please post them on the respective topics.
plakrast
I've gotten this to work, and I appreciate the mod (because several of the tracks simply look much better, such as MMM and IPP). However, some changes don't make any sense, like this. Is that the color shown on box art or something? I'm just confused. Anyway, great mod, and I can't say I've had any color banding problems; mine are as smooth as any others.

I'm just confused. With the exception of the first few sets, all original Castle themes had yellow/orange backgrounds on the set boxes (and usually in comics/advertisements and everything else, too):http://brickset.com/browse/themes/?theme=Castle It wasn't until KK2 in 2004 that LEGO changed it up. Oh, so they did. That makes sense then. Thanks for clearing that up!
Lair
I especially love the look of Ice Planet Pathway. Magnificent.
Noob Slayer
These are fantastic!! But I think I'm going to swap out the new Knightmare-Athon skybox for one of the other updated ones . . . the yellow on that one seems too out-of-place. Racing on Pirate Skull Pass is SO much more enjoyable, though . . . however, that horizon thingy is really bugging me. Is there a way to fix that? EDIT: So I was looking around, and I found that importing BACKGRD.WDB from Pirate Skull Pass (/GAMEDATA/RACEC2R1) into Will's Binary editor will show the skyring files (MDB, TDB, and GDB) being used. The only two courses that use this are Imperial Grand Prix and Pirate Skull Pass. So if there's some way to edit this out, we could get rid of this ugly skyring business. Also, in the SKYRING.MDB file, there are two color entries: k_27 // Materials [1] { k_27 // Material "watmat" { k_29 // Diffuse Color 49 121 139 255 k_28 // Ambient Color 49 121 139 255 k_2C // Texture Name "titwat2" k_2D k_2B k_38 k_3F k_41 } } They seem to be RGBA structure.
