Hey everyone, I was trying to figure out how I could get 3D models of the game items, characters, and buildings. Where on the disc or my computer are they located? Also what program would I use to view them with. Thanks.

The models are in the .wad files, so you need to extract those first. Then you need Lightwave to open the models. .lwo files are models and .lws are animations.

The game models are located in LegoRR0.wad. You will, of course, need a wad extractor. You can find one here. As for viewing them, you will need LightWave, which you can get here. Remember, the models are in LightWave 5/5.6 format, but you can still view them.

You can open then with pretty much any program that supports some type of LWO. Milkshape, Blender, Wings, even that cheesy Anim8tor. You just need Lightwave to save them in a format the game will accept (Milkshape and Blender will save, but the textures will be removed in-game).

Okay so I got both programs and extracted the WADs but when I try to load a scene or object in Lightwave it usually come out incomplete. For example when trying to load the docks scene it gives me an option of about 6 docks and they all come out looking nothing like the docks in the game. It also sometimes tells me that meshes are missing. How do I get it to look like it does in the game?

As far animations are concerned, most of the time they won't look anything like the game. LegoRR uses things called "nulls" to represent the placement of certain objects, like wheels and effects and more. Also, the models are usually separated into specific parts, so on the small transport truck, you have the main body, a wheel (which gets duplicated 4 times using nulls), the storage bin thing (gets duplicated twice via null when you upgrade it ingame) and so on.

The meshes are all there, but all of them are saved using the filepath from the developers. This doesn't affect ingame because LegoRR uses a different filepath in the .CFG file to the ones listed in the .LWS files. You need to only select the option to find the file, and the name of it should be listed in the text bar. If you look in the folder it opens, it should be there. If not, look in the Shared folder.
