-Just a few things i would like to say-

================================================================================================

Why can't we just add characters to the game insted of replacing them?

(i mean why can't we add a new characters with the new textures insted of "Replacing" a character textures?

and it's not only about the characters, what about the maps? can't we add the same map with a different texture?

Is that so hard?

i mean, if i wan't to play some custom character AND capitan redbeard (for example) why can't i do this?

it's not so hard to just load another character map car thing whatsoever right?

================================================================================================

Mashing (Modeling):

================================================================================================

Can i make models in blender and addreplace existed models in the game?

Can i make map in gtkradiant and add it to the game?

Why we aren't doing so? i mean building a map is so easy (for me at least).

can't i have a tutorial that will explain me how to add it to the game and make it less old boring?

THANK YOU FOR PAYING ATTENTION.

Because we haven't worked out enough of the CCB/DDB files yet.

No, because of how the model pipeline is structured, and because we don't fully understand the model format yet.

I don't think that we could find the solutions to that in the driver's list (ddb) because that doesn't say anything about how many characters there are allowed.

Recently I tried to add more bricks to one brick section in car building mode. Then I recognised that each section only allows 30 parts. I guess those limiting values have to be changed, unfortunately I haven't found out where.

I just was able to make the license name more than 13 letters long. I found that value in DRVRLICE.MIB in MENUDATA in line 308. but when I change it to e.g. 19 and type in a name of more than 13 letters ingame, the game will crash after pressing the 'next' button.

So what we DO know?

Perhaps we should make another topic like this one to clear things up for people? Not that it'd be as detailed, but I know it would certainly help me, and surely others too.

+1 to that!

Not much. Racers modding is still in it's early stages, where texture and other small mods are possible, and large mods (complete overhaul, new tracks, characters) are not possible. These things do not happen overnight, they take lots of time. I do not know exactly how long it took, but I doubt Rock Raiders was completely cracked in a few months, it probably took about a year or so. Racers is taking a lot longer, however, because everything is a custom format, while RR used common formats.

So what we DO know?

We: textures, buggy audio, and some tweaks in the binary editor

Me: a LOT, I just haven't documented much of it. I'll make the "What we do/don't know" thread in the next few days.
