thedmbarlow
So I don't know if this has been done or partially done somewhere -- however, my admittedly partial forum delving here suggests an adamant no. I had an idea tonight for a "fixer script" for LRR -- a simple .BAT or similar file. I suppose it could be distributed as a mod, although the idea is much less ambitious. I expect that if I can solve certain issues (some game based, some OS/installation based -- for example, the movies issue/bats issue/laser issue I'm currently having for the latter, or the "installer doesn't work" fix) -- then I can make a simple "Installer" that will do all of these things automatically and you end up with a running install. Lucky for me, I do have some experience with scripting like this. Unluckily, I can only do it for Windows 7 -- other OS's would require someone taking my eventual finished code and porting it over. And this could easily be extended, too -- when you guys have fixed the "hi-res" toolbar issue, I could implement options for that, and/or "hi-res" models as well. A simple installer GUI would probably go a long way toward such options, I'm pretty sure I can dig up an open source one(I am no good with art). What do you think? Worth the effort? Good idea? TheDoctor
We've already made alternate installers for LRR. I'm busy porting all the things I've made to LMS (Java to Python). The java one still works fine, IIRC. LMS is meant to solve all these issues with installing mods wrong and general issues. Unfortunately I seem to be the only one willing and able to work on it. thedmbarlow
I did try the alternate installer, and it crashed out on me. Is it not W7 compatible?

thedmbarlow
Yes. Nothing. It sits a moment (maybe 2 seconds) and then pops back up with the standard location/DIR prompt.
