He is carrying a 100 pound laser rifle system from RI Defense on his back. He is also the one Tracker the Troll shot for not wearing pants. Tracker Posted March 2, 2013 Author Share Posted March 2, 2013 Um, guys, I have some bad news. We already have much of the tech to allow a furry to have a natural coat. Think about it, there is research being done in hybrid sheep to provide organs and also a lot of effort going into the printing of organs. We can already transplant limbs, so a tail is not out of the question, especially since there is a lot of effort into spinal cord repair. We can already make an entirely synthetic virus, so being able get new genes into the body is not far off as well. Now think some more. The level of tech found in LRR points to a temporal setting that is at least a century away. Many furries would change themselves to their furry personas if given the chance, and they are common enough that you cannot rule out a Rock Raider being a furry. So it seems to me that it would be a bit foolish to assume that there would not be a furry RR, particularly since it is unlikely that "The Program" just includes the crew of the LMS. Also, I have changed scope of the topic to include non-furry RRs made in this scale. In fact, the next one is to be Chief. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Arthuriel Posted March 15, 2013 Share Posted March 15, 2013 I think, that there are two different themes in this thread, which influence each other: a) fur raiders: Hmm, a fur version of rock raiders: If it's well done, it could be interesting or at least something different, but it depends on how you integrate it into the rock raiders theme. I mean: Having a tail, big ears (the form of the helmet could be a problem) etc. does sound more like a disadvantage in an environment, which is filled with rock monsters etc. (okay, on the other side the need for oxygen is a disadvantage, too^^), but like I said: If it's well done, it could have potential. b) quality: I know, that it's easier said than done (many months ago I started to build a werewolf in LDD, but never finished it, because I was bored/ it was very difficult to design a good version), but your wolf doesn't even have a nose and looks (I mean the head) more like a combination between wolf and lizard, which is really weird. I don't know, if you had drawn a concept art before making a LDD version, but here is a badly drawn sketch based on your LDD version, which might be helpful: While drawing it, I thought, that it would still look a bit weird, even if the picture was much better drawn (example: helmet form / "helmet yes or no" in general) Summary: the theme will probably divide the users and it depends on the quality of the work, but even then (if it's good) it won't convince every one. Just kidding, because a possible weirdness scale would implode (or in a rare/impossible case: it becomes something really awesome). Another note: It was just a concept art and in my opinion it still looks more like something, which was artificially put in something completly different (besides: I think, that making a well done fur raiders theme is difficult/impossible, because you have the hard task, to make a believable/interesting scenario). There's some good implementations and stuff, and the first one looks great. My only complaint is that it's a furry. But aside from that, a solid model.
