lol username
If you're a fan of LEGO Technic, you're gonna love this CUUSOO project: The Land-Rover Defender 110. It's just reached 10,000 votes, and is a monster of a model: It is 100% radiocontrolled by PF, and it has advanced features, as: - 5+R speeds sequential gearbox with auto clutch - 2-speeds transfer case - RWD and AWD modes - All wheels disc brakes It has both live axles with long-travel suspension You can see more pictures and details on the model here. So, how well might this fare as a CUUSOO set? Well, here's some of what LEGO said in their official comments: Wow! Just, wow. It's amazing what this Land Rover Defender model can do. We can't get over the functionality you have packed into this. It would make a legendary LEGO Technic supercar, indeed. After seeing this in person at the LEGO Fan Weekend in Skærbæk, Denmark, we're even more impressed! However you know how huge and intricate your model is, and while it is a feat of engineering, the piece count and complexity would make it rather challenging to produce. Once the project reaches 10,000 and enters the review stage, our design team will need to address the piece count and complexity of this build, and see if it is feasible to maintain the essence of the model while ensuring it uses legal building techniques, is cost effective, buildable, and playable. On the second half of your journey, you are welcome to offer suggestions toward this end. Check out #2 on the post Cheat Sheet: How to Pass the LEGO Review with Flying Colors. Let's hope they manage to make this feasible as a real set. Regardless, it's an amazing model, and is really cool to see in action. Jimbob
It certainly looks like a cool set, but I'm skeptical about it passing review. With nearly 3,500 pieces it would just miss the spot of the 5th largest set Lego has ever produced, and considering the largest Technic set they've produced is almost half that size... yeah. Although I do like the way that the body can be so easily removed, that lends itself to customisation which I'm sure is a good selling point, like with that dirt buggy RC car they had a while back.
