Problem running game: Loading, black screen, laggs, crashes etc

Hi everyone,

Let me get straight to the point: I installed RR flawlessly on my Windows 7 64Bit. The game didn't run. So I did some google searches and found numerous fixes:

1. DirectX dll file: done, copied that

2. Compatibility mode: done, doesn't work

3. Disabling desktop effects etc.: done, doesn't work

4. Disabling Catalyst A.I.: Disabled, doesn't work

5. CFG modification: done, doesn't work

6. Flags: done, doesn't work

7. Custom GLGen + Adjustments: done, doesn't work.

8. Disabling acceleration in DXDiag: not possible

The game doesn't even start (black screen only) in mode "Direct3D HAL".

It does run with "RGB Emulation", but it crashes after loading a mission, the main menu laggs when the rubble falls and the rubble is white/grey.

Specs:

OS: Windows 7 Ultimate 64Bit SP1

CPU: AMD Athlon II X2 250

RAM: 6GB

GPU: ATI Radeon HD 5670

Mainboard: MSI 760GM-E51

Extra info: I've partitioned 512 MB of my ram with Radeon RAMDISK as a HDD with FAT32. The game did run ok(buggy, laggy, but playable, RGB emulation) with some of these fixes, but that partition clears out after every restart, so that isn't really an option either. I've tried to replicate it, without luck though.

Thanks for your time!

How odd. I'd try tweaking every option in the catalyst control center that looks relevant, especially antialising. I know RR doesn't really like to be forced to do anything, so setting all the options you can to "application chooses" might work.

If that doesn't work, maybe an antivirus is causing problems? I don't think I've ever heard of an antivirus giving RR problems, but hey, you never know. Temporarily disabling it might fix it.

Oh, and last of all, maybe you need to update your graphics drivers? I don't think that would be a problem, but again, who knows.

It always does that.

The game wasn't meant to be run in that mode. If you fiddle around with GLGen, you should be able to get it to work semi-properly.

All I can suggest is the classic "Have you tried installing the DirectX version on the disk?".

Did it in both overall and application specific options, no effect

I'll try that one.

Just downloaded the latest drivers before starting with RR, so that can't be it.

I'll show a picture of how it looks for me as soon as possible.

About that DirectX 6: The installer didn't work, so I manually copied over all the files, but after a restart I got a BSOD, so that didn't work out as planned =P

I'll reinstall the game and try everything again

Did some more tests, the Antivirus isn't a problem.

Installing that DX6 didn't change anything.

I might try some virtual pc program, although i've read that it might not work either =/
