Level Maps

I had an idea to reconstruct maps of the different levels in LRR using the extracted texture files.

I just finished the first one, so take a look and see what I mean.

NOTE: The image is quite large.

Do you like the way I've done this? Should I go ahead and do the rest eventually?

Is there a better way I can do the 'hidden' walls? The way I've done it here looks pretty crappy IMO but I wouldn't know how else to do it.

Basically, what are your thoughts?

Aaaaawww crub.

I just realized I screwed up on this map- the drillable walls on the left side, I mixed up the dirt and loose rock. Guess I should fix that- if anyone even cares :/

I hope to upload these to VGMaps if I ever get a complete set, as they lack any LRR maps.

Wouldn't it work to open the retail map in the map editor and take a screenshot?

The map editor uses graphics that, while based on the in-game graphics, don't match them exactly. The whole point here is to recreate the levels, exactly as they look in-game, or at least as close as possible.

The way the undiscovered walls are arranged looks a little awkward, but I like it. Is it at all possible to put a top-down screenshot of the toolstore (cropped or with power path) on? or some indicator of where buildings are

I'm trying, but it's proving difficult. A top-down screenshot does not match the rest of the map in color due to the game's lighting, and it's difficult to get the right size and orientation. I tried constructing a mock-up of a tool store using ripped textures but the textures for the buildings are larger than the terrain textures plus not always proportional to each other either. I'm working on making my own custom images for the buildings ATM.
