emily
So I recently discovered that rec.toys.lego is apparently still accessible. While having fun reading through the thoughts and opinions of 90s LEGO fans, I found this. More specifically, this message: Hey Nick, I have no Idea about the cost, but here's what I know. When I went to E-3 this year, I was exited to see what the game was like. I weaved my way through the throngs of people, catching glimpses of a big red Lego logo above the crowd, up ahead.I stumble through, and found myself standing in front of a 20 inch TV playing a 2 min loop of computer generated animation, and a 2 min video clip of kids playing with Lego Town pieces. The TV was set into an interesting display that looked somewhat like a Lego Police Station. Some parts were VERY realistic. The animation sequence was of a day on Lego Island. This Island had Lego Town streets, with a police station, construction vehicles, race cars, mini-figs, fire station...etc. It looked alot like a display that would appear in a Lego catalog, except not as rich with detail. There was a mini-fig kid (Time Cruiser Style) on a little skateboard weaving in an out of the cars and other figs. Lots of other little stories going on in the background. It was cute. The video portion showed avariety of kids playing with a real life version of Lego Island, driving cars around, making hrrrrr-crassshhh noises, the usual play. There was no narration that I could hear. And that was it!! They gave away a 2 wide x 1 deep x 2 tall yellow Duplo Brick with the name of the game of it. And Lego Master Builders were there putting together two HUGE Lego computers. One was build with standard bricks (twice to three times actual size) and one, made almost the same, out of Duplo sized bricks. The Builders were wearing nice yellow T-shirts with tasteful 2 inch Lego logos on the left chest area.... I begged, but to no avail. Anyway, it was nice to see Lego there, and they tried to make a cool little display for the video. But that's all they had at the time of the E-3 "convention" (mid May). Seems like they didn't know WHAT the game was really going to be like. They were still researching what kids want. NJC So now we know what was going on at E3 to some degree. It would be really nice to be able to see that animation. BobaFett2, Jimbob, lol username and 2 others
BobaFett2
Maybe they still have it?
emily
Maybe they still have it? It's possible some former Mindscape employee held on to it, although it is hard to say whether it would be possible to find that person, given they exist. Shadowblaze
Interesting. I would really like to see how it's going to end. O.T. Is it just me or RRU topics are extremely slow?
Pranciblad
O.T. Is it just me or RRU topics are extremely slow? They're slow because most people wait until they have something meaningful to say, and don't post in topics just to post in them... Keep that in mind. Maniac4Bricks
Hello everyone! I've had email notifs on about the 2x4 brick for years now, and I was excited the other day to find it available for sale on BrickLink again on June 1st, 2022. In no time flat, I placed an order and was also happy to see it updated: there's a BLUE version, not just gray anymore! Check the entry for the update (yet somehow you cannot search for it in gray anymore for some reason?). It leads me to believe that there may be MORE colors available. I reached out to the seller for more information, and he had this to reply: "HI Joseph To be honest we do not know much about it ourselves. It was surprisingly in a tote bulk buy at a tag sale I had only seen the gray one before this as well.. Sorry I couldn't be more help .. Nicky" While this doesn't answer anything, it was worth a shot as someone who had it in hand before the entry updated. If I recall correctly, I might have the email notifying of the previous sale when it was in gray, and it says on there generally what BrickLink store carries it. I will try to contact them, provided they still use the site, for more information. I would also contact the person who created the BL entry in the firtst place, but that account appears to no longer exist on the site. Another suuplied the weight, but unless the pattern differs the weight from a regular 2 x 4 brick, honestly anybody could have added that without owning the brick. If my calculations are correct, the brick should be arriving early to mid next week, I'm so excited to have it in hand! I will be sure to get more photos and video of it to distribute online and reach out to others if they've seen or had something like it. I only knew one person who claimed to own the gray but they never came forward with it - on account of tons of LEGO to search through. Hope to talk again soon!
