Biorune
Hi, I haven't been on this site for about a year, possibly longer, but I need help. I was playing Rock Raiders this morning absolutely fine, and then I fixed a long standing issue where my ATI Catalyst Control Center stopped working. Once I fixed this, I think by updating my graphics card drivers, the game would no longer run. I have multiple .exes of the game, 2 of the normal game and 2 of Baz's Mod, and none of them run. I just get a black screen for a few seconds and then it goes back to the desktop. Bear in mind it was working earlier today and the only thing I've changed is I've updated my graphics card drivers and got CCC working. Any advice? le717
Hm.... so the game broke when you updated your graphics drivers. Usually, AMD and nVidia make a folder on the root of C (or whatever your boot drive is) where it extracts the installation files before installing them, and doesn't delete them. You could try going to that folder, finding the drivers that were installed before you just updated them, run that installer and do a "clean install", where it removes the "old" before installing thew "new" (and trust me, if you want to install older drivers over new ones, you must do a clean install. I didn't do that once, spent an hour trying to fix the computer). That might get LRR running again and fix your CCC issue. Of course, make a System Restore point before you begin anything so you'll have a way to revert the changes if any thing breaks (another thing I failed to do). Biorune
All the folders in the AMD folder in C were created after I updated it, so there weren't any before.
le717
Hm. Either AMD changed the way it extracts the temporary folders, or it now deletes old ones. Do you remember when you last updated your graphics drivers, roughly? If so, you can download the drivers from around that time and do a clean install that way. Oh, here's that ordeal I was referring to, if you wanted to read it.
Biorune
I'd never actually updated them before this. Basically I only updated them to get CCC working again, since it hadn't been working for the last three years, to try and fix lagging in RR, as I'd seen a lot of solutions involving CCC. Once I got it working, by updating my drivers, RR broke. EDIT: Ok so I just discovered that it runs when I play it using RGB emulation, but it crashes when I try to load a mission, and of course everything is incredibly slow. Biorune
So I've tried totally reinstalling the game and deleting all the left over files (minus Saves) but I'm still having the same problem. Any more advice?
Leomunky
I would like to mention that I a suffering a similar problem. My game worked fine when I was using a geforce 8500GT, and a 250 gts. On both of these cards it worked just fine. However, the game stopped working and gave the same results, with the same workaround, that worked slow, and crashed loading missions. I would just like to mention that this is still a thing, and that if anyone can figure out a solution I would be greateful. On the other hand, if I happen to get it to work, I will be sure to post my fix here.
