Hello,

I'm quite new here. I'm 18 years old and I've owned Lego Racers for a looooong time. I was always interested in modding games, and I always liked to imitate the CPU as perfect as possible (I don't know why I did/do this.) So I've found out about this forum and I want to ask the modding experts a question; When the CPU lands on a surface, it makes no sound and no particles appear, when the player lands on a surface an annoying "brake" sound occurs. Would it be possible to remove this sound? It has been annoying me for about 9 years now.

So apparently I have to be the person to answer this.

Yes, it is possible to remove it. The files you are looking for are TIRE1.PCM and TIRE2.PCM, located in GAMEDATACOMMON

Open them with Notepad and blank them out. This will result in 0 Byte file. (Don't ask why can't just delete them)

Seriously, do it.

Oh, and the CPU Racers have their own engine sound, too: EENGINE.PCM, while the player's engine sound is just ENGINE.PCM

Hi, and trust me, you're definitely not the only one around here that aims at doing this.

As CarCrazeXVI said, those are the two files you need (or actually don't need). The particles (you probably refer to the smoke clouds?) can be removed too. The texture (SMOKE*.BMP with * being 1, 2, 3 or 4) just needs to be set transparent. You could take a look at the modding tutorials for LR to discover more about textures and how to set them transparent.

I haven't tried it, but it should be possible to edit particles with TMB files as well. I think you could remove or change the k_31 for a material with particle effects, or add particles to a material that doesn't usually have any.

You guys are great. I'll take a look at those files, I'll definitely try some things on my own too with the modding tools available, and the tutorials. Thanks!

EDIT: I only have TUN files for some reason. No GAMEDATA folder whatsoever. Not on my disk too.... Weird

Not weird, you do have GAMEDATA folder, but it''s in LEGO.JAM. I should have told you that..
