An LRR CYOA

I felt like doing a CYOA style comic, with an LRR theme. So I am.

For those that don't know how this works, I draw the panels while the readers decide what the characters do next.

While you control the characters, though, I control everything around them, so it's a partnership that will hopefully lead to unpredictable outcomes.

So let us begin, shall we?

aeAmOc6.jpg

These are our Raiders. Let us call them Adam and Billy.

They are both Level 1, untrained Rock Raiders. They posses pneumatic drills, one each, and no other equipment.

You can control either raider, so direct your commands at one or the other.

I will accept the first three commands posted and only those, unless a command is COMPLETELY unusable in which case I will ignore it.

There are other rules which I will elaborate on as they become relevant, but this is all you need to know for now.

Also future panels will hopefully look better.

O.T.
I wasn't sure which section to put this in, but now i think of it, it should probably go in forum games. Can a mod move it?

While Adam goes to put on his hat, I command Billy to go and drill through the nearby dirt wall. We need some ore to upgrade the Tool Store, after all.

I'm not sure which raider should do this, but when possible, conduct a search of the area for any potential hazards. Are there unstable cavern walls? Nasty critters? Hot lava? And certainly to find flat ground to build on.

O.T.

in this post I am expirimenting using paint and paint.net to make the panels. I'm not as good at drawing with a mouse but it is quicker and easier, so I can make panels faster. LEt me know if it looks too bad.

I propose that Adam wears a pirate hat at all times

ITEM GET! PIRATE HAT!

You can now tell the two apart.

I command Billy to go and drill through the nearby dirt wall

YOU FIND ONE ENERGY CRYSTAL.

...and a pile of rubble. Would you like to clear it y/n?

conduct a search of the area for any potential hazards.

There is lava and a slug hole.

The purple walls are Solid Rock, the light brown ones are dirt. There is also an E-Crystal seam.

Ok. Since it seems to be mostly corner walls, we don't need to do reinforcing yet. I'd get Adam to fetch a shovel and get some ore out of that rubble. Placing a power path against the back wall, we can then move the tool store away from the lava to make sure no-one steps in it.. Oh, and a quick question: do we have enough oxygen in here? That slug hole makes me nervous...

Oh, and if that's too complex an order, you don't have to do all of it.

do we have enough oxygen in here?

Yes, oxygen is fine.

As for how much of the order is done, depends on what else they are told to do, I'll see what works.

I'm happy with Pranciblad's two orders (clearing the rubble and building a power path). If it counts as an order, I'll send Billy to collect the Energy Crystal while Adam digs, if not then he can go drill the Energy Crystal seam.

Excellent drawings by the way :D Seriously, although they may not be Da Vinci, I laughed at the first two.

So... Is this dead? It had such a strong start, and then- nothing.

Well I was, at first, waiting for another post, since while there where two orders they were both in the same post, so eh, and then I kinda forgot it existed.

I can continue with what was said for the sake of continuing though.

I'll draw something up here soon definitely probably maybe somewhat likely remotely possibly probably not.

Yeah.

EDIT: Three, not two. Forgot my own rules. But it was kinda complicated, eh. I'll get to work.

Is that a yes or a no?

So this isn't dead, it's been on standby. Is that right?

It was a maybe.

So this isn't dead, it's been on standby. Is that right?

The term I would use is Hiatus, but yes, it has been on that.

BUT NOT ANYMORE.

I'd get Adam to fetch a shovel and get some ore out of that rubble

Adam clears the rubble, and....

Found 5 Ore. (yes, I drew about 9 in the picture. Whatever. it's 5)

Placing a power path against the back wall

Dink.

So.... Next commands?

We need more ore so drill the Energy Crystal seam with both raiders.

Get both raiders to shovel, an pick up the ore first.

Upgrade the Tool Store with the collected ore.

These cadets may have spunk, but they lack experience. I recommend they hone their skills with some good old-fashioned jumping jacks.

Oh, and I can't force anyone to do this, but I'd prefer other players to leave the crystal seam alone. At this point it's not much use except a way to attract slugs, and we definitely do not want any of those.

Lastly, even though I don't care to do it now, do you know if we would be allowed more raiders in the future? Depending on how long this goes, having only 2 raiders could slow us down as we get more things to do. At the same time, having a realistically-sized team of 10+ raiders would be hard to keep track of. Maybe you could eventually allow extra raiders, but in limited amounts?

Edit: alright, spelling fixed...

crystal seam alone

We (later) will need crystals to build the Power Station and other buildings, and the Teleport Pad doesn't need to be on all the time... We need at least some more ore...

I recommend they home their skills with some good old-fashioned jumping jacks.

</GrammarNaziness>

That's a good idea. They then should be able to attack monsters and slugs... but they miss about half the time. Grr.

Oh, and what happens when someone drops a Sonic Blaster?

'LRR.CYOA has stopped working...' :P

Oh, I forgot there's a slimy slug hole next to the base. I actually agree with pranciblad, it'd be a bad idea to draw them out just yet, we should do everything we can that doesn't involve Energy Crystals I think.

I'm happy with aidenpons' commands.

I probably should have been more clear, when I said 'first three commands' I meant first three posts that contain commands, one command per post. Better update the OP to clarify this. I think I can work with what I have though....

Oh, and I can't force anyone to do this, but I'd prefer other players to leave the crystal seam alone.

A veto? Interesting idea, maybe I can make a way to do that... but the rules have been set, so until another one is started I'd prefer not to change them. So as of current you are powerless to interfere with other commands, unless you are creative about it (for example, ordering one raider to do something that prevents the other from completing their task)

a way to attract slugs

wait, can slugs eat raw energy crystals? I thought that they could only suck the energy from buildings, so since you don't have any powered buildings yet that wouldn't be a problem. Correct me if I am wrong.

do you know if we would be allowed more raiders in the future?

You can teleport down more raiders at any time.

Well this got a little tangled, but I think I will go with drilling the e-crystal seam and upgrading the raiders (since those were the first two commands in seperate posts) and one more command after this post. Then I will clarify the rules and draw up some panels when I get on my other PC.

I think, after drilling the seam, we should upgrade the Tool Store.

Also, Prancibald wanted a power path against the back wall. Where has it been built? (That's not a command, I just want to know where it is)

I think we should wait until the previous commands have been completed before issuing some new ones.

You should get some basic GIF animations going, Fushi. Like a simple two-frame Rock Raider smashing some ore with a pickaxe.

I asked for one more command, and got one.

So, the taks are now Drill seam->Upgrade Raiders->Collect ore [implied]->Upgrade tool store.

I was thinking this too, but paint.net refuses to save animated GIFs and I wouldn't know what program to use to make one.

I'll post an updated map of ze cavern with the next round of panels.

Sorry, I really shouldn't post late at night, clearly I miss a lot of things...

Eh, if you just made two frames you can stick them together in other free programs, I think one of them is RealWorldPaint or something?
