Rock Raiders bat flak

Annoyed by those pesky bats, scaring your Rock Raiders away, making them drop the final energy crystal you need for your support station seconds before you run out of air?

Well, here's the solution:

The Rock Raiders ABDT (Anti-Bat-Defense-Tower):

hcUaeEO.jpg

Featuring two six-barreled miniguns and a searchlight to bring brightness to the ceiling and ends to their lives (also features two practical tool holders for tool storage while you defend the base).

Can be operated by a Rock Raider or as a self-controlled turret and fits comfortably in the loading bay of a Chrome Crusher.

Also works against slimy slugs.

Just a little for-fun build I made while going through some old parts and having the BrickArms miniguns at hand. Probably doesnt go too well with TLGs anti-violence thinking, but whatever. :)

Nice idea! Those pesky bats won't be lingering long around that flak gun, I'm sure. I like the construction of it, good job. :)

Are those chainguns official LEGO parts? Also I think the RR logo looks a little out of place, maybe. Perhaps if they were replaced with grills, it'd look like a vent for the heat? Or you could even make a cache for the ammo/laser deposit.

I must say that the brick you've used to connect the guns to the main frame looks a little unstable and when you turn it it would snap off... meh. I don't have this though and you know best. :P

Those chainguns look pretty nice.

I agree with JJ (:P) about how the RR logo looks out of place, and I think (as he said) that replacing it with grils would be a good idea.

Also, why is there a control panel when you operate it from two levers?

Why does it have two tool bays? I suppose the answer is 'why not,' but they seem out of place on the Mining Laser (if there were any), soo....

practical tool holders for tool storage while you defend the base

The floor is your ultimate holder. :P

Anyway, good job! :D

No, they are made by BrickArms:

I slapped it on for the sake of it and because I had it laying around, but grills seem like a good idea.

You mean the droid torso? Or the 1x1 grip?

I cant really see any buttons on it, I intended it more to be some kind of "target acquired" screen that locks on the bats.

They are present on the 3 RR sets I have (Hover Scout, Rapid Rider and Chrome Crusher), so I thought it would fit with the theme. And you probably wont get your tools dirty by throwing them on the ground [/irony] :P

And thanks guys. :)

the 1x1 grip?

Yep. It looks to me like it'd break off when you turned it.

No, not in my room... You have to dig through bits for a fairly long time before you find the ground. :P
