I'd wait until most of the bugs and stuff are fixed, to avoid ruining the experience. I say most, because there are some pretty nasty ones right now from what I've read. ;>_>
Acmex
Hey, the only terrible one is the one where the rain kills your dwarfs!
Addictgamer
The only bug I've seen is with the graphics packs. The game randomly crashed in arena mode, and now most creatures have black tiles unless I set GRAPHICS:NO Same with every graphic pack I tried, not just MayDay's. Hehe, yeah, at this point I'm pretty glad I learned the ASCII version. (Not that difficult, just takes some getting used to. I played a few forts with it and was totally fine.) Addictgamer
Um, it is very easy in ascii. I just prefer to use gfx when I can. So all I do is use a tileset, not gfx.
Addictgamer
Hey guys, DFTERM 2010, for windows, has been released! Get into contact with me and you can snare my fort! Or our community game.
Acmex
WHY IS IT ALL COMING OUT FOR WINDOWS FIRST Heh No matter. Telnet works on any platform. On an unrelated note, it turns out that I *hadn't* deleted the awesome site I found. I've found the magma sea and am working on sealing off my main cavern. Blasted giant Bats... Addictgamer
I dammed up the river on the surface, and the waterfall is backing up. I had one military guy go berserk because he was trying to kill a creature that was already dead, and was starving/exhausted/thirsty. He killed a metal crafter of mine. Now here's the good part. I love placing doors all over the place. So I did the same in this fort. To stop him, I just locked the door behind him But, I still lost 2 population and a cat. (1 was the metal crafter, the other is the berserk dwarf himself. Still alive actually) Anyway, I got an immigration wave that just about tripled me. And I jumped from 5000 wealth on embark to 50000 wealth. In a year. Yes, I am like that. Anyway, just pm me if you want to play our df succession game (which will be redone in df2010) or watch/help me play. Also, Quote Controlling which announcements pause and recenter The file announcements.txt (at Dwarf Fortress/data/init/announcements.txt) can be used to control which announcements do or don't cause the game to recenter and/or pause. For example, you can make the game pause and recenter when ores and economic stones are uncovered, but not when ordinary stone like microcline is uncovered. Addictgamer
A DF minor release has occurred Stonesense for DF2010 is almost done too! Quickfort works with df2010 DFHACK now supports df2010. I can't get the catsplosion example to compile though I keep getting "Class DFHack:API has no member named 'ReadCreatureMatgloss'" Can some windows user compile it for me? TheDoctor
Oh hey there. Ummm... just making my place here. I require moar miners. Also a list of controls would help. BESIDES the ? menu.
Acmex
Lol I typically embark with two miners, and http://df.magmawiki.com is basically the "complete" manual, if you hunt enough you can find every single control
