How do i mod Race Track textures?

I'm very sure this is the wrong place to discuss this, but how do i mod the race track textures? I've been trying to figure it out, but all the tutorials are on how to mod the racers, not the tracks, can anyone help me?

1. Get >this. It should provide most if not all track textures.

2. Edit the included .BMP files to your likings.

3. Place them in the extracted .JAM in the right folder. Make sure to replace the right texture.

4. Compile .JAM.

Thanks, i've been planning on making a Blacktron Race Track which will replace the blue surface with a sandy color, and make all of the explorien bases blacktron.
