To relay what I said to you a few days ago on an IMer (because I was in a rush so I didn't say it in a post):

Take a look at his face, and see which one suits better for the age. The second one definitely sounds more fitting to age, although I like the first one better. Is there perhaps a middle ground?

By the way, when I first heard it, in voice A I thought you said "Arr matey, the Arcitc chomping place." =P

Eh, it's not that easy to tell. I'll try to do something in between the two voices.

That's what I hear every time I listen to that line. I'll have to redo it. :P

By the way:

Asterix means the person is from outside RRU.

This is Asterix.

And Obelix means the person is from inside RRU, because we've all gotten so big and strong from sitting around doing nothing.

Thanks in no small part to Xiron reminding me of something very integral to these things working correctly, I'm happy to say that the technical aspect of this has been more-or-less sorted out, and that it should only really be a matter of finding the time to simply edit and test each conversation file, as each subsequent attempt has been successful so far, and work's going much, much faster.

That CaptG voice sounds a bit... eh, raspy.

Is it ok if I try doing Sam Sanister as well?

Right smack from the OP:

I'm not going to stop you from picking a character someone else already claimed, in the case two or more people want to do the same character, they will have to compete by uploading a voice clip of the character, with a line said from the game, and the community can choose who's voice they like better for the character.

Please think responsibly and know if you would have a proper voice for the character before going: OHMAGAWSH I WANT TO VOICE DAT CHARACTER!!!

@Oboe; Yaaaaay! Just remember that not all lines have been recorded yet. *gives glare to a certain member*, so not all of them can be perfected just yet.

^Yeah, I'm leaving the ones I don't have files for unaltered for the time being.

That said, it's going along pretty well, though it may take a bit more time to test the story-mode cutscenes, as I can't freely jump to them whenever I want...

Oh really? I know I can with my cheat table. :smug: (although it isn't titled 'cutscene' or anything clear).

An alternate way would be to temporarily replace a non-story cutscene with it.

At this time we are currently taking placeholder voices for all of 7 of McJobless's parts until he can pick up a mic and give us something, which at the current rate of delays it has already been a year and a half, and due to lack of communication, will continue to extend for who knows how much longer (likely until he is done college, however long that takes).

Here is the full list of who still needs to be done:

Fireman Gavin

Steve (beach dude)

Morat (DI resident)

Johnny Thunder

Cosmo (Arctic resident)

The Berg

Rocket Racers

I understand that efforts towards temporary things is not very exciting, so if absolutely no one takes a stand to help Oboe and I will do it all, should it come to it.

The reason I'm being so pushy is because the scripts are nearing completion (finally), and everyone else has already got their parts in, so a release (even if not v1.0) will likely be coming within the next couple of months, if not sooner.

I could take a crack at some of these this weekend if no one else steps up. I guess I'll have to look through the topic and figure out what you're actually looking for with these characters.

As said, the scripts are nearing completion, and I'm almost entirely done with the overworld exploration conversations. But I'd also be willing to pitch in for Cosmo and the Berg at least.

I'd give a direct answer now, but I don't think I really directed anything specific for the roles, aside from the fact that it should be fitting to how the character looks and speaks in their text.

I'd love to pitch in, but my recording software is asking to see my registration number and, even if all that was sorted, I'd still be busy this month (I won't go as far as saying what I am doing).

Hm, I may have a quick go at some of the civilian characters on that list tonight. I dunno if I can guarantee that I'll be able to get round to 'em, but I'll certainly try to at least.

and yes I'm giving Steve a typical surfer-y voice and no-one can stop me ,':)

If you are still looking for new voices, I can do some nice stuff with audacity and voice changers, so if any help is needed (Ramas/Martian) maybe I can help.

If you can send me the voice files you use for the ramas/martians, I can see what my software can do for me.

I'm already this myself, but if you want you can give it a go. By the way, have I actually modified all of the Martian voices? And The Berg? I'm not doing it, the way I did them sounded way too cheesy.

ah, okay, If you already have the required voices, no need for me to re-do them.

Heh. I can do a re-take of that last bit screaming the whole way if people want. It just kinda struck me to do it that way.

(read: I was going to do it both ways, but I got sick of blowing out the mic :P)

Not sure if you were actually thinking of doing some recording, or just modifying other's voices, due to your placing of 'new voices' in there.

If you give me a couple of weeks I can some voice acting

Alright. It's been a couple. Fire me a voice sample (in PM) to see if you qualify the specifications in the OP. Which for reference is:

Recording should be in 44100 Hertz or higher (remember, just because you can record in that hertz, doesn't mean the sound quality is equivalent to it).
Recording should be no less than 192 Kbps
Preferred file format: .wav; Secondary preferred is .mp3.

Should you succeed, everything left remaining I will do myself should no one else want to do them.
