emily
I linked to that McDonald's cup with a canned Lord Business mech/office chair that never appeared in the final version of the LEGO Movie. It looked like a fun model so I tried my hand at constructing it digitally. Reference picture! I couldn't figure out how the two arms in the back were attached for the life of me, so I just omitted them. Someone on BZP said that 20 minutes were stripped off of the LEGO Movie to make its length more reasonable for release. given how finalized this chair design (and the render of it on the cup) is I think it is safe to assume it appeared in that lost time. Quisoves Potoo
Good job on recreating this. The idea of a giant swivel chair is amusing, though I didn't realize that was what the cup was portraying until you identified it as such. I have to wonder how it was incorporated into the movie. Perhaps someone who owns a copy of the LEGO Movie can tell us if and how it features in a deleted scene?
Shadowblaze
I would really like to have an extended version of TLM that includes those 20 minutes that were cut. You did a good job in remaking that chair, props to you.
emily
Good job on recreating this. The idea of a giant swivel chair is amusing, though I didn't realize that was what the cup was portraying until you identified it as such. I have to wonder how it was incorporated into the movie. Perhaps someone who owns a copy of the LEGO Movie can tell us if and how it features in a deleted scene? I've got the Everything is Awesome edition of the movie, and unfortunately none of the bonus content involves this chair. You do get to see some storyboards from the leaked Piece of Resistance script, though, with Neckbeard and Krazy King Karl and whatnot. chiunafish
I've been staring at the cup for days now and just can't work out how to do the scissors! Anyone have any suggestions?! I think they are using part 4595 x 2, but how they are getting them to oppose I have no idea!!! emily
I don't think I could be of much help with the scissors (as you can see from my rendition of the model, I don't have the cup in-hand and as a result I had to fudge a lot of things even as far as I was able to build), but dang that's a really impressive real-life build you've done. The stapler limb is new to me and it's hilarious.
Aokpisz
My siblings always talked about making a real life version of the evil swivel chair... but man they got ninja'd real good EDIT: A year ago... apparently *is embarrassed* Edited August 12, 2015 by Aokpisz
chiunafish
I hope you don't mind me adapting your LXF - your LXF rendition was amazing! Reps to you OP!!! *bows*. The images I posted were built by the designers of the film. I am now replicating in LDD, before sourcing parts to build the real thing for myself. Scissors have been worked out! Next - the pen! I'm most of the way there now and will post up the LXF when it's complete. It's the pen which is now bugging me! MEGA frustrating! emily
Oh, those pics are from the designer? Neat! I looked it up and, for anyone who is curious, they were from here. Good luck recreating the model, chiunafish. chiunafish
