but it doesn't want to open

This isn't specific at all. We can't help you unless you give us information such as what files you're trying to open and what error message you get when you attempt to extract the files.

Sorry, quite new to this. I"m trying to open the Spiderman Face textures from Lego Marvel. I'm trying to mod them. Just says 'File too Big' and closes. I don't think it should be too big because the file is only 4 KB. Is this any help?

Just in case you mean this file: chars\minifigs\super_characters\faces\face_spiderman_nxg.nxg_textures - there is no texture in it. It is an empty container. The face used for animation is in the face_spiderman_nxg.ghg file in the same folder. Sometimes there are static textures for the faces. You can find them in the chars\minifigs\super_characters\heads folder. For your example head_spiderman_front_nxg.tex. Rename it in .dds and there is your texture.
