Fifi La Fume
For some reason whenever I use recording software (DXTory or Fraps) with this game the FPS counter shows up and stuff but whenever I take a snapshot or video the end result is black with the FPS counter. The framerate also dips even when I'm not recording. They work fine with other games. Any ideas? Yajmo
Fluffy Cupcake
I recall I (and possibly others) having this problem, not quite sure what I did to resolve it. What's your OS?

Pollywanna
Not sure how you can resolve the issue with video recording, but for screenshot taking, I use a program called YAFSScreen that prints whatever you have on your clipboard to a file - it's as easy as hitting printscreen, has a few nice format options, and it works in all the games (a considerable number) that FRAPS has been having trouble with since I "upgraded" to Win10. Thanks for the tip. I'll have to give it a go.
le717
Let me help you out here, at least on the Fraps side (if @Phoenyx is around he may be able to help with DXTory). Windows 8 (continuing with 10) drastically changed the way screen display contents is internally piped. IIRC, all of it now runs through DirectX. Because of this major architectural change and much better DirectX API and capabilities, programs written to capture the screen/games broke because they do not support the new and better way it is done. As Fraps as not been updated since 2013 and lacks proper Win8+ support, it no longer works for a lot of the older games (the games work because compatibility layers but the software does not know this and still attempts the old way of doing things). In short, Fraps is becoming more and more useless. OBS (and soon, OBS Studio) is emerging as the way to go. Yes, you paid money for Fraps (I did too!) and might be upset it no longer works but this happens. As technology advances, it's a natural process that weeds out the older, unsupported software. It happened with 16-bit programs when x64 Windows came out, and it is happening now with internal changes. Sometimes this house cleaning is forced (see: Apple and the Thunderbolt port on iDevices), but it must happen. It's like the economy. Businesses that stay up-to-date, relevant, fresh and continue to compete, market, and gain capital survive, while dry, dusty, dead companies die out because they cannot be sustained or stay afloat. Yes, we may be sad to see some business die but it is a natural process that must occur. So yea, there you go.
