riedthiessen
Just a quick test I did to see how easy/hard it would be to make songs in LEGO Worlds with the new paint for making bricks play piano notes. Right now a brick painted with the "Piano Paint" plays its sound every time a character steps on that brick. Even if the character is staying in one spot, but lifting his/her feet for an animation (try the idle animation while the soccer ball is equipped). When the player is running at full speed he/she takes one step roughly every 7 studs. Making it a little difficult to make a song like this, because sometimes a note with play twice or not at all. riedthiessen
Yeah... It sounds off at times, because its a little slow, octave limitations (I've only got 2 to work with), and the odd time it will play a note twice because of the running animation of the character. The characters running animation takes a step every 7.5'ish studs. So I had the music path at a bit of an angle for this, so the character would run across each note for slightly longer than 7 studs. Next I'm going to experiment with the running animations of different characters and animals, to see if I can find a way to play notes faster. Ben24x7
Maybe change the path of the notes to a staircase design? If that is too slow, make the steps steeper and hopefully it'll increase the tempo. I haven't tried it myself, which is why I recommend you try it as a one-off.
riedthiessen
I tried that when I first started playing with the piano paint. But I soon found out that's not the way these piano bricks work. Here's a video of me experimenting with the piano bricks. The piano notes just replace the normal step sound effects that play when walking on all the different biomes. Which means the sounds are based on the animations of characters. Every time a character takes a step for an animation (even the idle animation with the soccer ball) it plays a new sound.
