ticketstoloservile
Hello fellow RRUers! I have found some information about some unreleased LEGO themes that had interesting ideas. This theme was called Mafia Gangsters: This theme was intended to be in the Gangster era in the 1930s. Besides it's culture and bad history, this theme was cancelled in early production. This final unreleased theme was called Europa: (Really original) This theme setting was in the 18th Century, featuring cannon-forts, towns, bridges and transportation. Possibility of including Witches, Bridge Trolls and also it is the time of Dracula. Alternatively the theme could include historically correct soldiers of the Scotch, Russian, Dutch armies etc. with ships, hot-air balloons and the like. This is also the colonial era. This theme was cancelled in late production. So yeah, let me know if this is quite interesting and have a great time reading this. Cheers. lol username
Ah yeah, I've seen these, fun stuff. Here's a higher res version of the gangsters image: Also some misc other stuff: There's also a bunch of castle and space prototype images that come to mind... I'd embed them all but meh, they've all been re-uploaded here: http://lego.wikia.com/wiki/Prototype Just browse around there, lotsa neat things. The Ace Railgun
Oooh, this is one of those that I wish became an actual theme. I love the designs of some of those buildings and those trains. Lair
Ostoya
I knew about Europa, but never heard of Gangsters. Holy cow this looks awesome. Must have been too awesome to release. I'm digging these cars. And the boat looks unique too. Lair
Pranciblad
It always amazes me how long Lego were kicking around the idea for Aquazone before it finally made it to shelves. I also noticed that those lattice column pieces got a lot more use in prototypes than actual sets. aidenpons, Quisoves Potoo, emily and 1 other
Zed
I found these pages in one of Pereki's magazine scans a while ago. Not sure if all those cancelled pre-release designs can count as a theme/subtheme, but either way, they're pretty neat! Also, can someone explain why most of the prototype parts are in red? Arthuriel
Arthuriel
And finally we know the true story behind the following cartoon, because it is actually forgotten concept art, that shows us the REAL reason, why it was cancelled : @aidenpons: You have forgotten to mention some other gems like the Creeper prototypes (which is even more hilarious, when you take into account, that the Minecraft Creeper is based on a botched up prototype for the pig, if I remember it correctly) or CYBOTS . ticketstoloservile
As I was looking for more unreleased LEGO stuff, I found this: It's the same Snake Train from the Ninjago TV show. Just a quick reminder though, this was prototype set and it was cancelled in production. Arthuriel, Dazzgracefulmoon, Fush and 2 others

ticketstoloservile
As for I was looking for some unreleased LEGO sets, I found this: It's a unreleased Geonisis Arena set from 2002. It was cancelled because the designers thought that "the set wouldn't sell well". If you look closely, you'll see a prototype version of the Republic Swamp Speeder in the back. And if you look closely at bottom right corner, you'll see a early Clone Walker. Quisoves Potoo, Dazzgracefulmoon and Zed

ursus
Hi! Is it possible to get real hi-res image of unreleased gangster sheme? The one available on imgur is not hi-res, at least here in 2017

TalonCard
It's a shame that more prototype theme images haven't surfaced over the years. I'd love to see earlier incarnations of Adventurers and Pirates. I think someone said Mark Stafford used these in a presentation; I wonder if he could be persuaded to post more from the archives, given that much of it is over 30 years old at this point. (That being said, I see there are still some things slowly coming out of these prototypes--I doubt the machine guns we ultimately got are descended from the gangster theme, but the Europa wigs and highwaymen look pretty close to what we eventually got in the CMF line...)
