You bite into her arm and let the blood flow into your mouth. Marvin fails to hide his light uneasiness at seeing this.

You drain a substantial amount of her blood. Not all of it, mind you, but more than you normally take. She seems a bit faint, and reaches for what's left of the food. You wipe your mouth. "Thanks..?" you say, uneasily. "No problem" she says, with a subtle quaver to her voice.

"I can't seem to reach them." Phil says; from his tone of voice, it sounds almost like he was trying to interrupt something.

"Well, that's understandable, considering the window has yet to come." you say.

"But it says someone is receiving on this frequency..." Phil says, confused.

"Are you sure it's them?" You ask.

There is a pause. "Who is receiving on this channel?" He says to the headpeice, slowly.

The headpeice suddenly emits a screech. Phil recoils, and falls to his knees. Suddenly, a voice is heard over the headpeice that is audible to everyone present. "Hey, Phil, Quick question: How many dead necrophiliacs does it take to screw in a lightbulb?" Phil's look darkens, and his eyes fill with fear. "How did you-?" Phil stutters. "I dunno." the voice cuts in. "But I'll ask one in about a minute." The lights suddenly go out. You hear Marvin leap to his feet, and shout "WHAT HAVE YOU DONE!?" and suddenly you feel something hit you in the face with the force of a punch. In fact, you think it WAS a punch. But who could have thrown it?

You hear Phil cry out in pain and you hear Marvin grunt. You whirl, and see him throw a punch at seemingly nothing. "What?" he says in surprise. Suddenly, you see someone come out of nowhere from your right and attempt to deck you in the side of the face. You react, and draw a dagger and slash at his wrist.

But for some reason, the blade passes right through and the assailant brings its knee up into your chest. You partially dodge and the blow glances off you. Then you notice the attacker is gone, and this realization is followed by a swift blow to your back. Right before your knees hit the floor, the lights come back on and you hear three surprised grunts from behind you. You turn, and see three men standing behind you. "Why did the lights come back on?!" one of them exclaims.

"Do you honestly think I would have survived this long down here without being prepared?!" Marivn roars. You notice that he too was on his knees, and he rises to his feet as he speaks. "I built a backup generator a long time ago!"

"Built!?" one of the men exclaims before Marvin throws a punch at his sternum. The blow connects, and you hear a sickening crack. The victim flies back a few feet and hits the floor. The remaining two men assume stances; one of them draws what appear to be brass knuckles, while the other draws two short swords. Phil is on the floor bleeding and the one with swords prepares to strike him down. The one with the knuckles faces Marvin. You quickly get to your feet. As you do, Mariam introduces her crowbar into the ribs of the sword wielder. He staggers, and faces Mariam.

I can't recall Mariam having her crowbar again.

Let's see... One is on the floor with something broken. One has a crowbar in his ribs. Other is vs Marvin.

If you have anything like throwing knifes hit guy with crowbar'd ribs and then jump to help Marvin. Also keep eyes on downed guy to make sure he doesn't get up, unless you stab him too.

You reach for a throwing weapon, and hurl a shuriken at the guy Mariam is facing.

Then essentially this happens:

You duck under the reciprocated projectile and it clangs off the wall behind you. Mariam attempted to hit him with russel again, but he blocked it and kicked her in the gut. She falls back. You then hear this loud crack, and Marvin yelps in pain. The sword guy attempts to behead Phil, but Phil dodges at the last second and aims a kick at his leg. The target raises that foot, and brings it down on Phil's extended leg as hard as he can. Mariam then chucks her crowbar at the sword guy, and he parries with the sword in his right hand. Mariam rushes the sword guy, and he thrusts the weapon in his left hand into her abdomen. She doesn't stop, and she picks him up off the ground and runs into the wall with him with the sword sticking out of her. The sword guy has a look of triumph, right up until Mariam thrusts the extended fingers of her right hand into the fleshy part under his jaw. His look quickly changes to worry, and he just as quickly slides his sword not currently plunged into someone between him and Mariam, in an attempt to slash her throat or lop off her head. Just then, Phil cries out "NOOOOOOO!" and runs over and thrusts his right hand at the tip of the sword, which pierces his hand between the hand bones. He grabs down on the blade and Mariam uses her left hand to restrict sword guy's arm's movement. He gives a jerk to try and shed them, but between Mariam and Phil, he can't escape like that. Mariam keeps pushing her hand up, and her fingers come out of his mouth and take a firm hold on his jawbone. He emits a panicked groan, and releases hold of both weapons and tries to pry Mariam's hand out of his face. Phil wastes no time in removing the weapon at her neck and moving away. Mariam uses her left hand to hold his forehead, and starts to pull with her right.

You, however, aren't paying attention to most of this. Your attention is on Marvin. The guy he is facing was responsible for the loud crack you heard earlier, and the crack was a bolt of electricity that somehow came from the knuckles and zapped Marvin in the chest. Marvin is on one knee, and he looks like he's in pain. He then attempts to rise, and the knuckles guy hits him in the face with his right hand, then hits him in the gut with his left. You hear another loud crack, and Marvin staggers backward, his legs quivering. He eventually falls back down on one knee, and the knuckles guy walks closer.

What do?

Open a can of ninja whoopass on him, precluded by a few throwing knifes.

You wing three throwing knives as the knuckles guy. All of them pierce his back, and he yelps in pain. Marvin suddenly rises and lands a solid uppercut into his jaw. You hear a noise you can't quite describe, but you assume that he just got his neck hyperextended. The knuckles guy hits the floor and doesn't move.

You redirect your attention on the others in response to this gruesome moan of pain you hear from the swords guy. Said guy has had his jawbone removed and then jammed in his eye socket, and there is a crowbar lodged in his pelvis. He is loudly moaning in pain. Mariam walks up to him, removes the sword from her abdomen, and thrusts it through his head. The noise stops.

Check the first guy if he's still alive. Demand where they came from, why, etc. Make sure he is hurt enough so as to not get away, especially if the lights go out again. Need to be careful.

If he's dead, then ask Marvin what was up with all that.

You check the first guy to fall. He isn't moving, but you can tell he's still breathing. Very slowly, though. "This one's still alive" You call out. He gives the slightest of movements. You look into his eyes, and see that not only is he still alive, but also still conscious. You suppose he was either waiting for the lights do go back out, wanted to remain immobile to not further damage any chest tissue, or both. "And still awake." you add. You turn towards the others. "What should we do with him?"

Nobody else is paying attention to you though. Phil looks at Marvin apologetically. "Marvin, I am so sorry for this..." he begins.

"Sorry for what?" Marvin responds. "Leading these men to my hideout? Endagering innocent people by walking into someone's abode while being a high priority target by the organization you used to work for?"

"And we appear to have made quite a mess." Mariam says, motioning to the floor, which has blood everywhere.

"...Yeah, that stuff." Phil sighs.

"I'd be lying if I said I wasn't angry about that, but when I think about it, that probably couldn't be helped." He says. "How long have you known you were being hunted in this manner?"

Phil looks askance. "I suspected they weren't happy about my withdrawing, but I didn't know they cared this much until now." he admits.

Marvin sighs. "In that case, apology accepted. But be more aware of the inherent risk you pose to those around you from now on." He says, a bit forcefully.

You clear your throat. "Uh, this guy is alive here?"

Phil suddenly perks up. "He is?! Don't kill him!" he runs over and carefully tries to search for something on the downed man's body. The man retaliates and swings at Phil's head. You hear him cry in pain at the sudden movement.

Hold some weapon against the guys neck and use known methods to get info out of him. Then let Phil search his pockets or whatever he wanted to do.

Well this is only an idea, but things like these seem to pop out every now-and-then, so I'm going to try it. I believe these guys were either wearing some black robes from past posts, or I personally thought it was a leather jacket of sorts. Well whichever, these guys can't have these shadow powers just like that I think and believe it to be their clothes. If not then some device on them.

So take off this guys clothes, at least the ones that would by any chance influence the shadow power, and/or any mechanics by any non-killing means.

Also this is not homo. -_-

The guy is wearing a long black cloak. You decide to remove it.

Phil raises an eyebrow at this, but he voices no objection. He attempts to restrain the guy while you take his cloak off. Underneath, he has on some kind of tactical crap with lots of storage stuff all over.

"Help me flip him over." Phil instructs. You do so. The guy keeps struggling, and he apprears to either want to die or break free of the restraint and flee. You really can't tell which. On the guy's lower back, you see a strange rectangular device that appears to be attached to him. "Hold him down" Phil says. You do so, and Phil reaches into his jacket and pulls out a device that looks like a cylindrical key of sorts. Phil pushes it into a slot on the device that would fit it, and a sound like that of a foreign object being removed from a body is heard, and the device comes free. A yellow light emits from the captured device, and Phil puts the key back where he got it. The guy starts bleeding from where the device was taken, he stops struggling, and he emits a sad whimper.

"Okay." Phil says, standing. "NOW you can kill him."

Then search his pockets for anything useful left.

You then check his pockets. You find a rubber band, one of those adhesive bombs that Mariam used on the juggernaut a while back, A huuma shuriken, and a small canister of some kind of fluid that Phil is quick to inform you is a type of firebomb.

Real quick before anything else. Could we know what it was that Phil took off that guy's back? And I was kind of wondering what that end reaction meant. You always have to wonder whose side you are really on...

As in, ask Phil the above.

You wipe your mouth. You have overeaten today, something you haven't done in seemingly ever. "What exactly is that thing you pulled off this guy?" You ask.

Phil's eyes are sparkling as he responds. "THIS," he says dramatically, "Is a legacy Shadowcloak."

"A what?" You ask.

"Legacy?" Inquires Marvin.

"This device was developed for use in infiltration and espionage" Phil explains. "The goal was to make someone invisible, intangible, and incredibly fast. I called it 'legacy' because the first relases of this technology only worked in the absence of certain light frequencies. There has since been one better version that I am aware of, and I'm sure the perfected design has been released by now." He glances at the dead body of the guy he took it from. "Most of the people here that I knew posessed one had them physically attached to their nervous system. When it's worn like that, the device will permanently shut down unless it's removed by the method you just saw."

"But why attach it like that?" Marvin asks. "Is there another way to use it?"

"There is another way: simply belt it on. But if worn like that, You have to turn the- for lack of a better term- 'cloaking' on and off manually, whereas the other method allows one to enable the cloaking just by thinking it. That, and the device won't kill itself when the user dies."

"So that's why this one sounded so depressed when you took his." you observe.

"Indeed. He was hoping either the lights would go out so he could escape and seek medical help, or one of us would kill him at first chance. Either way, this device wouldn't end up in my hands." He looks down at the device and grins.

Ask whether it would be possible for us (the group) to attach... that thing... to one's nervous system.

"Yeah" He says automatically, before rethinking his response and clarifying, "Well, maybe. This one was customized to fit this particular person. Even if the size was compatible with someone else's figure, their neural impulses would probably be quite different. I COULD reprogram this one to revert to the factory settings so it can read a new host. But until I get the tools to do that, this one will have to be used the manual method, if at all."

TEST IT TEST IT TEST IT ! But be careful who uses it. It's always safe to be extra careful sometimes...

"Could someone test it?" You ask. Phil's expression brightens for the breifest of moments, and then goes to a more pensive state. "Yes... yes we can." He turns to Marvin. "Seeing as I was somewhat responsible for this attack, it would be rude of me to not offer you the first claim on this item. Would you like to test it out?"

Marvin considers this offer for a few seconds. "I may have need of it's capabilities at some point. However, I feel uneasy about it in its current state based on what you have told us. So I will pass on your offer."

"Okay then." Phil says, turning to Mariam. "How about y-"

"I'm not touching that thing." She interrupts. There is a brief silence. Phil turns to you, deciding not to pursue the matter. "Derek?" he asks.
