schep
Hey everyone, just joined the site yesterday. Rock raiders (obviously) is one of my favorite games ever, one of the reason being the music. I don't know what it is about it, but I really do like the theme music, especially the intro. It's really unique. I've been trying to find out what music notation software program LEGO® has used so I can make more... that's right, more rock raiders theme music. I wish to recapture the style! I noticed a lot of people here have there own little remakes going, and I'll volunteer myself for writing extensions of the old rock raider sound files or just completely original sound tracks. I'm a professional musician of sorts and I can garuntee quality (though maybe not on a deadline). And by of sorts I mean I'm still in college, and music may or may not become my career (by choice). If anyone is interested just let me know... I can do full sweeping orchestral scores to real recordings and pretty much just anything you might want. But ya really, if anyone could find what program LEGO® media used that would be really awesome. I've been looking but haven't found any info about it. schep
Nice idea, but sorry, I have no sheet music well, I don't need the sheet music... I can write it out all by ear. it's just the instrument sounds are unique to the program so in order to get like the same "feel" I need to know what program they used, or at least the midi patches they used. also I said I can do original stuff to, just maybe in the same style, so it's all good. Anonymouse
Hmm.. Sounds to me like some kind of brass instrument, at the beginning of the intro video at least (where the asteroid crashes into the LMS explorer). Later, it's just like... Synth style sounds. IDK, but I don't think it can be done with midi. Probably needs live recording to sound that good.
schep
No, definitely not. I already own a program that can produces as good or better sounds than what is in the intro avi. It just doesn't have the same sounds, plus there are kinda some weird techno things going on that my program probably doesn't have as well. I can almost garuntee none of it is live, it would cost way to much. Only lately has there been a resurgence for real music in video games, as seen in mario galaxy or call of duty: modern warfare 2. The distinction between live music and notated music is almost in distinguishable now a days, but even back in 99 it was comparable. I could post a short 20 second ring tone I wrote for my friend, just to show you the quality of my program, if there is any doubt.
Addictgamer
Hmm... Maybe you can adjust the way it saves the output files to give it an accent or to make it sound like it was made using bad technology? Finale 2008 has something similar to this.
