Well, this is it. I'm gonna be shot. Someone is gonna say, "Damn this is way too short! Weren't you gonna do something SUPA-EPIC-AWESOMENESS for your birthday as a gift to us?"

Whelp. I hope this satisfies you, in the same way getting money satisfies me (BTW Could you wire me some cash? Please?).

Let me dis-spell the rumors, destroy those unknown barriers, and let you guys in on some secrets about Final Dawn. After all, you deserve it.

Final Dawn is a complete overhaul of Halo Custom Edition. That is the technical stuff on what it really is. We are calling it either a Mod, or a complete Game where we feel applicable. It is a mod because it is user-created content which is distributed. It is a Game because it has been completely re-built. Anyway, call it what you want.

Next, pricing scheme. Ok, this is a bit of a plunge for me but, in the words of the Joker from the last Batman movie, Here...we...go!

  1. UI Only: Free - Comes With The Final Dawn UI (Edited for Non-Final Dawn Halo CE Versions) [.zip Archive]
  2. Multi-player Only: Free - Comes With All The Multi-player Maps Only [.zip Archive]
  3. Regular Edition: Free - Comes With Single Player, Multi-player, UI, .dlls and Full installer [Compressed .exe]
  4. Multi-player Map Modder Edition: $10AU - Comes with Regular Edition and Multi-player Tags [Compressed .exe]
  5. 1337 Edition: $15AU - Comes with Multi-player Map Modder Edition plus Campaign and UI Tags as well as several tools and some special Developer Only Maps [Compressed .exe]

Wow. That's a load off my shoulder!

A few more things to clear up:

  • The Single Player Campaign (The main canon missions) will equal up-to 8 hours of Gameplay
  • There are other Single Player Non-canon missions included
  • There will be at least 15 Multi-player Maps, but probably more
  • There will be at least 10 Vehicles we will be adding to Final Dawn
  • There will be at least 10 Custom Weapons for Final Dawn
  • The UI will beyond anything you have seen before
  • YOU...WILL...HAVE...FUN

Map Maker, Map Maker Want Better Tools!


I'm gonna take you guys on a journey. You wanna come? Well, you have no choice. I'm gonna show you the work I have to go through to get a multi-player map working, and I'll also show you some cool things to do for Single Player levels.

Hit the "Show" button to view the pictures. I know the size is wrong, but I can't help that. Captions are under the spoilers, not above.

There are two boxes. The Skybox (You use that as your level) and a Reference Frame the engine uses to place models correctly and do multi-player stuff with. Also, don't worry about the fact there is no color in the sky, this is how the engine works, by adding that as a Tag later.

So this is the first step in the compiling process, and the fastest. Chimp is exporting all that stuff into a format that Halo can then turn into tags. The format is .jma.

That is the special tool we use to grab the output from the exporter, then save it. Yes, Chimp has no Save feature. Oh well...(And don't ask me about the background, this is not my computer).

Tool, the special Halo compiler, is telling me that map is good, and has no visible errors. That is always a bonus.

Before I open up the level editing tool, this is the Tag editor. You can create and edit existing tags for the game. I have to edit the level here first by adding a sky to it, and adding the weapons you use when you start the level.

At this point, you are probably like "OMGWTFBBQ WHERE IS THE LEVEL?" Well, we have to do one thing first; the Radiosity process. To make the level visible, Halo uses a process of Radiosity to check what parts are the level are dark, and which are light.

As much as I would like to show you through to the final product, I am gonna keep the rest secret until the 19th; release date. Yep...

...Actually, You deserve a bone. Here is a quick pic of AI in a multi-player map. Its pretty Hectic (despite it isn't balanced properly).

But, you know what...I feel like you all deserve something even more special. You know what?

To install it, if you have Halo CE just place it in your maps folder.

If you have Halo Gilroy, make sure Hidden Folders are visible (Goto Tools on the top bar then Folder Options, then click View, and find Show Hidden Files and Folders) then do the following:

Halo Gilroy Vista: Goto C:\Users\[YourUserNameHere]\AppData\Local\Temp\maps and place it in there.

Halo Gilroy XP: Goto C:\Documents And Settings\[YourUserNameHere]\Local Settings\Temp\maps and place it in there.

Back Up All your Data First, then Overwrite the 3 maps in your map directory with the 3 ones in the .zip file.

The map is called 'giffile'. Don't ask why, just play it. Let the good times roll with your super tank weapons. Good Luck Solider.

Just quickly, that map is miles from completion, and will not see the light of day. It's just that we need to do too much to get it fixed up, and it's not really good gameplay-wise. You might also notice things like pictures missing or some general bugs. If you do, sorry about that.

Also included is a special UI, and the loc.map you need to get everything working.

Oh last thing, if you try and right click with the weapon you spawn with, you will use an Assault Rifle instead of Grenades. Unfortunately, it drains YOUR health AS WELL as the enemies...be careful!

From the director of Machinima Affairs for 7 Extreme Powers Studios himself, CruelAzergeuos (editor: Probably Got The Name Wrong :) gave me this to put in this update:

Well as an update on the machinima Return Of The Spartans, after the update for Halo Reach, Firefight V2 introduction and the return of Blood Gulch in a much larger form, we have decided to move the Return Of The Spartans Saga completely over to the Halo Reach platform, so therefore the saga can be expected to start November 10 of this year. That will be the release of the very first episode of Return Of The Spartans Chronicles

Here is a short story line of the first few episodes of Chronicles

A White Spartan (Blade) wakes up and gets to his feet and notices a Red and Blue Spartan (Extreme) turn around and aim a rocket launcher at him. They notice Three ODST’s (Jenkins (red secondary color), Miller (blue secondary color), and Kayla (gold secondary color)) approach followed by a Steel & Red Spartan (Angelus). They then see a light green and silver Spartan (Rehab) fall out of the air and land in-front of them, the Spartan gets up and aims a Machine Gun at the others, and gets stabbed in the back by a Green & Gold Spartan (Azuregos) with a Pink & Green Spartan (Lysithea) and a Green & Blue Spartan (Luke) following behind.

They then notice a Silver & Red Spartan (7 Powers) aiming a sniper rifle at them, only to have the Spartan get a shotgun put against it’s head by a Gold & Steel Spartan (Markus)

The Spartans recognise each other and introduce themselves to the ODSTs, the group then proceeds through the forest and one ODST walks off while the group has a break. The group hear a scream and find the ODST (Miller) dead, from a plasma burn.

The Group then get fired upon by unseen targets as they run, their armor abilities fix themselves. As the group jumps off a cliff Spartan Markus gets stabbed in the back and falls off the cliff dead.

The Camera will show the group running towards a forrunner structure, and then switch over and show five unknown beings (Extreme110 already knows who they would be, and he knows not to mention anything about them) decloak. They then reactivate their active camo and continue hunting the group.

Basically another ODST gets killed and the group then starts to adapt to the environment and start hunting the hunters, still the unknown beings are all killed. They then escape in some Falcon transport shuttles that where left there 100 years ago.

So basically you will enjoy the Return Of The Spartans I can promise that.

Yeah. You'll enjoy his -blam!-.

One Last Thing


For those guys who want to know about SKN, I haven't put anything into it specially for Extreme110 Day. I will have something ready though for the 19th...a sort of late present for you Rock Raider fans. Just wait for it...



Well, I hope you enjoy this update, enjoy this day, and enjoy the map release on the 19th. Because I do not, and will not. Damn stuff is a pain in the -blam!- alright?
