I Have A Commodore 64 System. What's Next?
So for christmas I got alot of small things. I was a bit disappointed, until my dad came in with a giant box. I immediately knew what it was, and dug in. Inside was my C64, a model 1 5 1/4 floppy disk drive, a number of games, Centipede game cartridge, a random cassette tape, about 5 joysticks, many serial cables, manuals, a power supply bricky thingy (which is really heavy, and I learned that it hurts when it hits you on the knee), a cassette drive, and a printer hookup for a printer. The only thing I need that's left is this piece, which I hope to get. After that, I'll have my commodore ready to run. The computer itself works, I just can't get any video output without that. I tried stealing the connector from the N64, but the resistance coil inside of it is not enough for the C64 (the C64 has 2 video outputs, one for a cable line in, and another for RCA. The N64 had a cable box). I tried the floppy drive, it works, but it is extremely loud, which I hear is normal. The aluminum pieces inside of the machine are a bit corroded, but those can easily be cleaned. The terminals for the cassette in have this strange white powder on them, which I assume is also corrosion. The SID is a 6581, which oddly does not have the C= on it that they usually do (it's outer design is of an 8580 chip, but the serial number says otherwise). It's not in the best of condition, but hey, it's a 30 year old 8-bit computer system.
