Oh come on, I post one tiny thing. Don't be like that. If I must provide an example, one would be of those certain new plushies that are appearing. What if Hasbro changed MLP back to their old ugly ponies? How many fans would they have then? Stories are abundant in all media, men don't turn to a female orientated product just to get a story. If you are there just for stories why not start on Barbie, they have heaps of movies with stories too. Or take young (like teen, not 30+... although there are those.... bah nvm.) boy bands/male solo singers as an example, female fan base is maxed.... I wonder why? And you can't say that it's because Bieber produces good music. For the other people who truly aren't their for that reason, they are probably fans just to feel like they are in some sort of club.
